Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
Sometimes I can get stuck doing the same thing over and over and over again. It is like my life is on autopilot. Living life on autopilot is a very dangerous place to live. It is void of purpose, passion and dreaming. It is void of possibilities and new things. I do not generally do new year's resolutions. I didn't know what to write down. I had heard so many people failing. It seemed to be a joke. I purposefully would wait until some other time of the year to set goals. It seemed that new year's resolutions were set up for failure. So many people failed to achieve anything they were to have resolved to accomplish. It was as if you were doomed to fail before you ever started. Therefore, the overwhelming feeling that whatever you declared what your new year's resolution wasn't going to happen.
Like I said in yesterday's blog, through my job, as a health coach, I have learned to dream again and have a vision for the future. They encouraged us to teach our children to dream and share their hopes and dreams of their future. It changed my perspective when we finally wrote down our dreams on a vision board and displayed them on my office door. Everyone would see them and remember, they were to do their part in preparation for the fulfillment of their vision written on the pasteboard.
When I read the first line of Isaiah 43:19, Behold, I am doing a new thing…" God is doing something new. I have to receive that word personally. I believe God wanted me to know He is doing something new in my life. I need to be in tune with the new things He is doing and how that affects my life. I can't just write it down on a pasteboard and not give it any thought. I position myself before God and listen. When I listen I have to allow myself to receive. Because most of us have been defeated in our dreaming before, we don't know how to allow ourselves to dream. Some of us are afraid to dream. We do not want to be disappointed. We do not want to prideful or arrogant. We do not want to be discouraged. I could dream but to write it on a posterboard where I was making a resolution to put the work in for the dreams, became a form of accountability. When I didn't want to prepare, do the work, jump over the obstacle in the way, I would see the posterboard with all those dreams and possibilities and I had to decide I was not going to yield the day. I decided I would take the win and get to work. Many times I had to do it scared. I should probably say most of the time,
I did it scared. My job causes me to be out in front of people and share my life. It is so vulnerable. Everyone gets to have an opinion of me and what I am doing. The amount of rejection is enormous; however, when there is someone you can affect for the good, give them their life back and encourage them to go after their dreams, it is all worth it.
The new thing God is wanting to do in you may have to be done scared. A new thing generally means you have not done this before. A new thing might even mean you haven't even thought of doing it. A new thing can mean you and I are going to have to leave behind the way we have always done something and learn a new way. A new thing promotes stretching in our mind and compelling us to action. God is doing a new thing. Will you join Him?
Father, I ask for You to open my heart. It is difficult to be so vulnerable to dream again. I have dreamed so many times before and they have come to nothing. I want to trust You. I want to yield my desires to You. Your Word says You will give me the desires of my heart but maybe the desires of my heart to not align with You dreams for me. I want to know what You want to do in my life and through me. I ask for You to awaken the dreams You have placed inside of me. I ask for You to give me courage to dream again. This time I want to dream with You. Come and open my mind to receive the vision You have for my life. I want to receive and fulfill them in Jesus' name amen.
