1 John 5:1-4 (NKJV) Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

"We are going to put some meat on those bones." When do you hear someone say a similar statement? It is when we are concerned someone is not getting enough to eat to support the work they are doing. Well, in the same context we are going to be taking the statements you declared yesterday and putting some meat on those bones. They are words on a paper, or on your screen. They're like a skeleton, but we need some meat on those bones. We need to give Scriptural support to those statements.

I am a victor and no longer the victim.

We are born of a sinful nature, into a sinful world; however, that does not mean that we are to be overcome by the world. We are not to be victims of this world nor in this world. We are to be victors.

A. How can we be victors when it seems like the world is going to hell in a hand basket?

B. How can we be victors when sin abounds all around us?

C. How can we be victors when people have no hope and always speak discouragingly?

A. Our victory is not based on where the world is going.

Our victory is based on what Jesus has done to make a way for us to spend eternity in heaven. Hell was not created for people. Hell was created for the angels who rebelled against God. Yes, they are mad because they are going to lose. Therefore, they want to hurt God so intensely that they try with every lie to entice people to reject God and embrace their sinful nature.

B. Our victory is not based on the sin all around us.

Our victory is based on choosing the ways of God over the opportunities of sin. Every time we choose righteousness we are being a victor. Every time we choose peace over the argument we are being a victor. Every time we choose laying our life down to lift up another we are being a victor. Every time we deny our the lusts of the flesh and honor people, who God made them and the gifts He has given them, we are being a victor.

C. Our victory is not on what people say, the nay-sayers, the disheartened, the discouraged.

Our victory is based on knowing what God has said and agreeing with God. Our victory is laying aside what we think is best to listen to God, who knows what is best. Our victory is seeing the gifts and talents God has placed inside of others and encouraging them to step into it. Our victory is in aligning our faith with God's plans. Our victory is speaking what God has for us, agreeing with it instead of talking ourselves out of it. Our victory is in embracing what God has told us and letting Him work out the details. We are to agree with God and He will align the path ahead of us, this is being a victor. We are to look for His lead and follow even when we can't see the outcome or how it is going to all come together. We are victors when we encourage ourselves and those around us to step into what God has given them to accomplish.

I am a victor and no longer the victim.

Father, thank you for making a way for me to become a victor. Without Christ, I would still be a victim, but in Christ, I am a victor. You knew I needed the courage of Christ to face this world and the way it entices my sinful nature. But You made a way. Thank You for your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for Salvation. I am a new creation in Christ. The old has gone away and the new is within me, growing, living and achieving the dreams You have placed within me. I will chose righteousness and walk according to Your ways. There are times I will fall down, but I will look to You, repent and rise again. I may fall, but I never want to remain in my sin. I want to be cleaned by You and be restored to Your ways for my life. I will not listen to those who spew ugliness, discouragement, and down-play Your will for my life. I will agree with what You have said. I will receive beauty for the ashes. I will receive courage for the discouragement. I will dream with You and walk with You instead of smothering Your plans with doubt. You are my God. I am not longer a victim, I am a victor in Jesus' name amen.
