Oh,To Be Heard

Psalms 116:1-2 (NKJV)

I love the Lord, because He has heard

My voice and my supplications.

2 Because He has inclined His ear to me,

Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.

When we know God hears us then we will pray differently. We will pray with confidence. We won't moan and complain because we realize, "God is hearing me complain!" If we believe God hears us when we talk, saying the good things, then why would we forget He is hearing us when we say the bad things? I really do not like the verse that says I will be held accountable for every idle word I speak. When that verse, like lightning, hit my brain it totally changed how much I said. I learned to listen a whole lot more. I learned to be selective with my words. I learned not to engage when provoked. I learned to say what needed to be said and stop wasting people's time just so I could say something and hear myself talk. Since I am going to be held accountable for every idle word, then I want there to be few words brought to my attention when I see God. I would rather be talking about all the times I shared when the Spirit compelled me. I would rather be talking about all the times God intervened in my life. I would rather be telling Him about how grateful I am and specifically tell Him each and everything I can remember. I do not want to be spending my time with God revealing to me all the idle words, that were useless. Since I do believe God's Word, I know He hears my prayers. I cannot deny it because there are too many Scriptures referring to God hearing us.

Psalms 34:17 (NKJV)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,

And delivers them out of all their troubles.

1 Peter 3:12 (NKJV) For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,

And His ears are open to their prayers;

But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

1 John 5:14-15 (NKJV) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

There is no question in my heart or mind, God hears me. He doesn't agree with everything I say, nor does He answer everything the way I want Him to; but there is no doubt in my mind, God hears me. Knowing that God hears you should give you a glimpse of just how valuable you are to Him. He takes time to hear you. He wants to know what is on your mind and in your heart. Yes, He knows but He wants you to tell Him. When you tell Him, then there can be a conversation. God wants to be in relationship; therefore, you have to have dialogue with Him and listen when He speaks.

Most of us crave to be heard. We want someone to hear us. Sadly, you may have a difficult time getting that fulfilled here on earth. Your heart may want to shout, "Oh, to be heard"! Know that the God of the universe, the One who was, who is and who is to come, hears you.

Father, I am thankful You hear me. When I get discouraged, You take the time to hear me. You hear my words from the overflow of my heart. When others have silenced me, You tell me to speak. I am grateful You value me. I am thankful You hear me when I speak. I am thankful, You want to be in relationship with me. You want to know what is going on in my heart. You want to know what thoughts are flowing through my mind. You want me to be able to put those thoughts into words. I am thankful you hear me. I feel valued by You when I am heard. I know Your presence in with me. I know when I speak out of the abundance of my heart and mind, it isn't all good, but then You can gently speak the words I need to hear to make the right decision. I trust You; because You have taken the time to hear me. I trust You; because You let me get "it" out and then You love me with words of courage, discipline, and direction. You are my God and I am thankful You hear me, in Jesus' name amen.
