One on One

Warriors Arise: November 25, 2021

Exodus 19:20-25 (NKJV) Then the Lord came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the Lord called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the Lord, and many of them perish. 22 Also let the priests who come near the Lord consecrate themselves, lest the Lord break out against them.” 23 But Moses said to the Lord, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai; for You warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it.’ ” 24 Then the Lord said to him, “Away! Get down and then come up, you and Aaron with you. But do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord, lest He break out against them.” 25 So Moses went down to the people and spoke to them.

Please, look at this from God's perspective. There are times when I want to talk with one of my kids, not all of them. I will tell the others to go on about their business, before I start talking. There are things I need to share with one particular child and not the others. What I am about to share is not to be a discussion with everyone. It is meant to be between myself and the child I have called to meet. I am not trying to bring them out or throw them under the bus. So, I meet with them privately. All other little ears need to go.

God had things to discuss with Moses that didn't need anyone else there. It was not up for discussion. There would not be input for anyone else. There would not be a debate. God was about to share some valuable information with Moses and He needed his full attention. Even Moses would not be discussing this with God.

There are times when we need to know God has called us to Himself, because He has something of value He wants us to know. He doesn't want us distracted. God can speak to anyone, anywhere but the most productive relationship depth is developed when we meet one to one. God could shout it from the mountain top, but then everyone would think they had input, they could give their opinion. This wasn't a time for 2.3 million opinions. This was a time for God to meet with Moses, the one who put his life on the line to do what he was called to do. This was their time to celebrate and commune.

God calls us to Himself today. He calls us out from the crowd, to climb the mountain and commune with Him. Have you heard Him call to you? Did you go out from the crowd to meet Him? Did you set boundaries up so others did not invade your personal time with God? Did you silence your cell phone? Time with God is the most valuable time You will spend.

Today is Thanksgiving here in America. Take some time to come away from the crowd and commune with God. Listen for His calling and celebrate what He has done in your life over the past year.

Father, I will position myself to hear You call to me today. I will take the time to come away with You. I look forward to celebrating all You have done in me and through me over the last year. Your love for me and made a safe place for me to grow into who You dreamed I would be. I will listen to Your voice and commune with You today, in Jesus' name amen.
