Phrase of Power

Warriors Arise: December 10, 2022

Psalm 30:5c (NKJV) But joy comes in the morning.

Have you ever had a phrase in the Bible jump out at you! It causes you to stop reading then reread it. You begin to meditate on the phrase with questions.

  • Why was that phrase written there?

  • What does that mean to them?

  • What does it mean to me?

  • How would I apply that?

  • What is God saying to me about that phrase?

Surely, I am not the only one this happens to. This verse is hidden between some very challenging times. In all the author of this verse is painfully remembering he proceeds to say, "But joy comes in the morning." He feels the anger of the Lord for what he has done. He feels the battering of his enemies. However, he knows darkness, pain, sorrow, hardship, and the Lord's anger will not remain. He knows something all of us need to embrace into our very being. He knows, "Joy comes in the morning."

Do you? Do you know, joy comes in the morning? Sometime I have had an extremely rough day. I drop, flop or crash into bed. I feel beaten up by all that went on that day. Sometimes it is as if everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Sometimes I listen for someone to say one positive thing, but it never comes. Sometimes I look for someone doing something great, so I can rejoice with them and draw on their victory. I just need something positive to keep me from tripping into discouragement. But nothing comes, every phone call is a "Debbie downer" call, every contact is someone complaining about what has happened in their day, or I can't seem to get one thing on my to-do list done. But I persist. I seek the Lord and remember, this is not going to last. When I trip into discouragement I can't stay down, because I really don't like wallowing. It never serves me well. It only makes things worse and discouragement leads to depression. Being depressed is not sometime I want to entertain because then I know apathy is just around the corner. No! No! No! I can get through today with my Lord. Even if each step is like lifting up legs weighing a 1,000 lbs. I will keep going. I will keep looking for something positive. If nothing comes. I drop into bed and thank God this day is over and tomorrow is brand new. I've never been there, but He has. He will be waiting for me in the morning and joy will accompany Him. This I know to be true. I believe my Lord and I trust His word to be true. This is how I get to sleep. I don't want to carry anything from that day of drudge into tomorrow. So I leave it in today and move wake up tomorrow, knowing God is meeting me with joy. Everything is new, the old is past, I will embrace this new day with Him. He will be with me and if I have another day of walking through quicksand that tries to pull me down, I call upon the Lord and in my weakness, He is strong. I love the Lord and He loves me. I will look forward to each new day, because there is joy waiting for me. It's waiting for you too!

Father, You are amazing! Thank You for revealing this phrase of power to help me get through my day of discouragement. Thank You for the promise of joy meeting me each morning. I choose to wake up and receive Your joy. I choose to know You are waiting for me in the morning with joy. You are my God and I will praise You for You NEVER leave me. You settle my soul and renew my mind, and redeem my day. You bring joy in the morning and I will embrace it, take it, and live it throughout my day in Jesus' name amen.
