Prepared for the Not Yet

Warriors Arise: January 3, 2022

Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

As we begin 2022, our family is praying to seek God's vision for our family for this year. Scott and I as individuals, as a couple and over our family, we want to know what God has envisioned for us in 2022. We have talked to our children, encouraged them to pray and seek God's vision for their lives. When we write them on our 2022 Vision board we want it to be goals they are going to apply themselves and position themselves to achieve. We have shared that it isn't a wishlist for someone else to do or accomplish. It will cost them time. They may have to say no to other things in order to achieve the vision God has put before them. But they may have to prepare for what is not yet.

They will also have to be flexible to respond when God opens a door. If they are not execting God to create opportunities for them, they may not see the door open. For instance, I felt God told me in June to get my passport and watch to see God work on my behalf for Scott and I to go on a work incentive trip in November. Had I waited until I made rank then I wouldn't have had my passport in time to go. However, I also need to share from the time God told me to get my passport, I worked intently to achieving the rank. Since He told me to get the passport, I needed to get to work and make the rank to go. I worked with intentionality. I couldn't just order my passport and expect God to do the work for me. He did not say He would do my work. He said to get the passport and be prepared to go. We found out three weeks before the trip that we were going to get to go. But a month prior to that, we still had not made rank. Even though we hadn't made rank and I didn't know how we would, I remembered what God told me in June and what I did in faith (getting the passport). I asked my mother-in-law to come earlier than expected so we would have someone with the kids when we went on our trip. Keep in mind, we still hadn't made rank. I did all of that intending to go. That is not an arrogant statement. Scott and I worked diligently, because God had given me a word. He made a road in the wilderness and a river in the dessert. God is faithful to His Word.

Another example, my oldest daughter was accepted for a 9 month program, overseas on the mission field. She did not have the money for the trip before going. They accepted her and she is currently on the mission field. They do not have all their money but will by the time her mission trip is done. There are a few people giving monthly and the remainder I am sure God will provide. She didn't have everything necessary; however God wanted her there and made a way, a road in the wilderness.

Another example, my middle child has wanted to be a page at the Iowa State Capital since she visited with her father when she was in 4th grade. She is now a sophomore in high school. We setup her entire school year of classes revolving around the impression that God would make a way for her to become a page for the 2022 congressional session. The application was due in October and she interviewed in November. She was accepted in December. We planned ahead with Lydia's schooling, expecting God to do what God said He would do. They generally hold out for all Juniors and Seniors. A page has to be 16 years old. Lydia interviewed for the position 13 days before her 16th birthday. God made a road in the wilderness, a new road for our 16 year old to be a page in the Iowa congressional 2022 session.

I wanted to take the time to testify about what God had done last year because it can set us up to listen, follow, and prepare for the unexpected things God will do in 2022.

  • When was the last time you really dreamed with God?

  • Did you act on it?

  • Did you talk yourself out of it?

  • Do you make preparations for what is not yet?

Father, I ask for my ears to be open to hearing what you would say for 2022 for myself and my family. I want to hear from You. I know the plans you have for me are good, perfect and acceptable according to Romans 12:2. You have the very best for me. I also know that I will have to align my will with Your will. I may have to lay something down in order to receive what You have for me. I may have to put more time into what You have for me to accomplish. I will look to You and set my sights on what You reveal to me. You are my God and what You say You will do I believe You will do. Thank you for Your amazing direction and love. I worship You in Jesus' name amen.
