Warriors Arise: December 31, 2023
Matthew 6:9-11 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
How are you preparing for 2024? At a very young age, I would NOT make a New Year's resolution. I felt like I had enough failure in my life and enough disappointment. I didn't need to write down something that I didn't have a legitimate plan to fulfill or finish.
Just like many people have a new year resolution for losing weight, there might be an equal amount of people who make a new year resolution to spend quality time with God. I am grateful you read what God places upon my heart for Arise; however, if you do not have your own Bible reading time with our Father in heaven, I would like to recommend you begin one.
There are two ways I would suggest getting started.
*1*Most of us can find ten minutes in our day for something we want to do. Give those ten minutes to reading your Bible. If you have more time, then journal what God has shared. Always be looking for God to show you something or speak to you through His Word. Once you have secured ten minutes a day for at least two weeks, I recommend expanding to fifteen minutes for the following two weeks, adding five minutes every two weeks you have been consistent until you get to your desired Bible reading. If you try to start with a thirty minute chunk of time you probably won't make the first week. This doesn't mean this is all the time you have with God. I believe we should daily be reading our Bible and then we may add in journaling, worship, prayer and declaration etc. Get Bible reading established first.
*2*There is a chronological Bible which is designed to be read in a year. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this when I needed to get the entire Bible read. I felt Father telling me I needed to read every word in His Word. I knew a lot about the Bible and a multiple of the stories, but I hadn't read every word. I felt impressed upon my heart that I had missed some really important parts. This was so good because it kept me on track and I didn't have to figure out exactly how much I had to read. There are several Bible apps you can use as well.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me today my daily bread. You fulfill me and sustain me, Your word makes me strong and empowers me. I will receive from You and give to others. I know You are with me. I pray You would give me directions on the reading plan You would have for me. I want to dig into Your Word and learn from You. I want to know Your ways and walk in them. I want to receive courage and boldness to step into 2024 with You. I will daily read Your word and be refreshed, strengthened and guided in Jesus' name amen.
