Put It On

Warriors Arise - April 2nd, 2020

We are told in Ephesians 6:14b “having put on the breastplate of righteousness”. I ask, “Have you put on the breastplate of righteousness?” We need all of our battle armor. God would not have given it to us if we didn’t need it. Do you struggle with putting on the breastplate of righteousness? The Bible says No-one is righteous, no not one (Romans 3:10). This convicts us all because none of us are righteous in our works, our words, our gifting, or our ability. However, IN Christ, we are made righteous by our faith which is from God (Philippians 3:7-14). I have sinned grossly in my lifetime and more times than I want to count, but God who is rich in mercy has forgiven me. The love of God toward each one of us is greater than we can comprehend. He sent His son, Jesus Christ to pay the price for my sin. Because I choose to believe God’s plan of escape from my sin, I have a way out. That same plan works for you too. This is good news! When I come before God and seek forgiveness, I am restored to whom God has created me to be. God is not human; we are made in His image but He is not human. He is God. You and I can struggle with believing that God will forgive us of our sin because we face the ugliness of unforgiveness. We must separate those who are human from who God is. God knew we would sin. He had a plan for our redemption and that plan was the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He takes our sin and gives us His righteousness. When you and I understand God’s forgiveness for our sin we can offer it to others. When we can offer forgiveness, compassion and love to others we release a miracle into their lives. The same miracle God has given us, the choice to walk in the righteousness of Christ.

One of the reasons we do not “put on” the breastplate of Righteousness is because we remember our sin. We know we are not worthy to be called righteous. I am not putting myself down when I write the next line, I have sinned and and despise the fact that I will sin again. Not because I want to be perfect, but because I know the enemy rejoices when I screw up and flaunts it in front of God. “Did you see that? Veridee got angry again at the children you gave her! She will always fail.” When that happens I have to hold on to what I know about God. God will forgive me for my sin; past and present, when I turn to Him.

The only reason I am made righteous is because I believe Jesus lived, died and rose again to be my victor. My faith is in God because of the evidence in what He has done, is doing and will do. Therefore, I put on the breastplate of righteousness, it rest securely over my vital organs, passions, and godly purpose. We can lack purpose in our prayers, wavering because of the lack of putting on the breastplate of righteousness. If you struggle with calling yourself the righteousness of Christ then position yourself before God and ask if there is any sin in your life. Then repent. Whatever God reveals, ask for His forgiveness. God is ready to restore you to who He has created you to be and for you to walk in all the Jesus died to give you. Abraham was definitely not perfect. He sinned on a number of accounts recorded in the Bible, yet in Romans 4:19-22, he did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore, it was accounted to him for righteousness.

When you wear the breastplate of righteousness it means you are BELIEVING God will follow through with what He has promised. Believers of the one true God are supposed to shine bright when there are trials and tribulations (Romans 5:1-5). We are to be the ones that offer hope in the time of trouble. We are to demonstrate and call for others with like-mindedness to walk in perfect peace because my God never fails! (I Corinthians 13:8) Believe you are forgiven. Believe God will come through. Believe God is for us; therefore, who can be against us. Put on the breastplate of righteousness and let’s pray together:

Most loving Father, I am so thankful for Your plan of redemption. Thank you for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ to show me how to live victorious. Thank you for sending Your Son, so I could be forgiven of all my sin and made righteous in Christ. Thank you for giving us Your Word to strengthen us in time of trouble, peace in time of chaos, and power to defeat the enemy. I ask you to forgive my sins. I put on the breastplate of righteousness because I am a new creature in Christ. The old is gone and You made me new. Today, I choose to believe that You are making a way for the death of the corona virus. Therefore, as Your ambassador, I speak death to the corona virus, its reign is over. I speak to the people who are infected by the corona virus for their body to reject the virus and overcome this sickness. I speak to their immune systems to rise up and defend their body. In the name of Jesus, because I am Your child, I ask for each and every germ to die. The germs of the corona virus will no longer have a span of life but will die in the name of Jesus. I extend my shield to those in the medical world: EMT teams, admissions, nurses, doctors, researchers, all health-care workers. You have called them and positioned them for such a time as this. I bless their immune systems to rise up and defend them. If the virus gets on them in any way I ask that it die before it can infect them in the Mighty name of Jesus.

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

Veridee Joy

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the corona virus. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
