Questions to Ask

Warriors Arise: December 6, 2022

John 14:27 (NKJV) Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

This verse can stand alone and we would grow in the understand that Jesus is giving peace, as well as His peace. As I shared a couple of days ago, peace is tangible but it is also a person, God. It is who He is. It is an attifute of God that we can see and experience. He offers it to us. As I shared yesterday, it is a gift. It is something God gives to us. Therefore, we have to receive it. How do you know if you have received peace?

Our lives will reflect it.

  • We will be anxious for nothing, because we God is either going to remove the point of anxiety or He is going to get us through.

  • We will not be in fear, because we not only know God's love is enough; but His love is more than enough.

  • We will not be confused, because we know perfect peace means we keep our thoughts steadfast on the Father.

  • We will not be uncertain, because we are at peace knowing God is the Rock upon which we stand that cannot be shaken.

  • We will not be suspicious of everyone; because we know regardless of the decisions, actions or words of others, God will protect and guide us through to better results that we expected.

  • We will not be negative toward ourselves, because we know God's desire is for us to walk in the value He has placed upon our lives.

  • We will not think poorly of others, because we know God is working in their lives as well as ours, because He desires for there to be unity, support, encouragement, compassion and love.

  • We will not dwell on the past hurts and wounds, because we will receive God's healing and walk restored, strong, and capable to love; because He has taught us to love.

All these things: anxiety, fear, confusion, uncertainty, suspicious, negative attitude toward ourselves, poor thinking of others, and past hurts and trauma, STEAL the PEACE GOD offers us. There are more, but the above mentioned are the main thieves of the peace of God in our lives. First, we have to be honest with ourselves.

  • What am I anxious about? (What thoughts keep coming and coming and coming, because you do not have the final answer yet?) This is an indicator of lost peace.

  • What am I in fear about? (What are you afraid will not happen or what are you afraid will happen?) These are indicators of lost peace.

  • What am I feeling confused or a lack of understanding about? (This indicates we haven't listened to others and our opinions are causing confusion; therefore, we do not have the peace of God.)

  • What am I uncertain about? (This is shiftiness of wanting our personal desires or what we think is best, verses expressing ourselves in love and trusting the peace of God to lead us and them to the best outcome.

  • What or who am I suspicious about? (This indicates we are uncertain God's peace will protect us from the pain if others should act in a hurtful way toward us.)

  • Why I am negative? (This indicates that we have not accepted the pains from the past nor seen how God gave us strength to get through them; therefore it continues to steal the peace of God within us.)

  • Why do I think poorly of others? (Our focus is on the times when things didn't work out. so rather than remember all the times things did work out; therefore, we have abandoned the peace of God.)

  • Why do my past hurts and wounds haunt me? (We cannot forgive God for not preventing them from happening; therefore, we will not accept His peace and healing from that hurt or wounds.)

God is so incredible. He desires for each one of us to receive His peace and remain in His peace. His peace is a gift. Jesus knew we would need this. He gives peace and He gives us His peace. All we have to do is receive it and remain in it. We can't allow circumstances to cause us to abandon peace. Jesus did not have an easy life. He had to face everything that I mentioned above and He walked through unscathed, because He remained in the peace His Father gave Him. We have the same opportunity. God has given us peace as well. It is our choice. Will you receive His peace? Will you remain in His peace?

Father, what an amazing gift you give to me. Teach me how to receive Your peace. Teach me how to remain in Your peace. I know when I have Your peace and remain in your peace, I will have chains falling off. There will be so many chains falling off that I think I will walk taller. Thank You for your gift of peace. I receive it in Jesus' name amen.
