Matthew 4:1 (NKJV Strong's,) Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
Does knowing the Spirit led you into a place where the enemy would tempt you scare you or give you peace? We could look at this as being God leading us directly into the enemy's hand and that provokes fear and insecurity. Which that thought has crossed my mind. Sometimes I would respond, "Really, God, You think I am ready for this?"
I have learned that when God leads me into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, it isn't for my defeat, it is for His victory. I have learned God never position me to lose. He positions me because He is confident that I will remain with Him and we are going to defeat the enemy together.
Once I understood God was not leading me into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil to see what I would do or could do, things shifted. I was no longer fighting the enemy alone. I was fighting the enemy filled with Spirit of God, empowered by His love and God has never failed.
There was a time when I didn't want to be led to be tempted by the devil. I didn't want to fight again. I wanted to live at peace. Then I realized it wasn't God who was interrupting my peace. It was the devil. God knew every time the devil intense to attack me. God came to me, encouraged me, and empowered me with His Spirit. I was never alone and I was never in my own strength. His strength was enough. Let me correct that, His strength is more than enough. In Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, I would win.
Jesus wasn't led into the wilderness to be tested, He was let into the wilderness to be tempted. He was tested by God. He was tempted by the devil. We are not tested by God. We are not tempted by God. We are tempted by the devil. However, every time the devil plans to tempt us, God meet us to speak over us. He gives us exactly what we need before the devil tempts us. I may not think I am ready, but God knows I am. All I have to do is be willing to follow Him and He wins the battle. All I have to do is raise my sword, the Word of God, and it cuts the enemy. The enemy cannot defeat the Word of God. I may not think I am ready but all I have to do is be the vessel who will do as the Lord instructs. He is my strength. I am not alone. I come in the power of God. He says I am ready, not because I am battle strong, but because He is battle strong.
Father, thank You for always being ready. I celebrate knowing You are always ready. You are not surprised when the enemy comes. You empower me to overcome the enemy. You give me Scriptures that will cut down the enemy. I will listen to Your voice and speak what You say. You are amazing in all of Your ways. I have nothing to fear. I am not afraid for You go before me. I do not look for a battle but I will be led by You. I will listen to You. I will respond as You say and overcome the enemy. You do not test me nor do You tempt. You prepare me and I am made ready by Your preparations. Thank You! I will rise and go. I will ready myself to listen and follow You in Jesus' name amen.
