Warriors Arise: June 4, 2023
Matthew 2:13-14 (NKJV) Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” 14 When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt,
I am always impressed by how quickly Joseph responds to the angel of the Lord speaking to him in the dream. There are several key words that would be motivating. It makes me wonder if I truly listen to the key words when God speaks to me. Mary carried and delivered Jesus; but Joseph was His father here on earth. Joseph would be the protector of God's Son. Having Jospeh's role in Jesus' life would be stressful. It compelled Joseph to pay attention and respond quickly when God spoke.
God gave him clear instructions, "Arise…flee…stay there until I bring you word…" God would speak again to Jospeh. For now, Joseph had to respond quickly. Jesus' life depended upon Jospeh's quick response.
Most of the instructions we receive from God are not as pertinent as what Joseph received here in Matthew chapter two; however, I believe they are just as important. I remember exactly where I was when God spoke very clear about how quickly I was to respond to what He said. He impressed upon me that from the time He told me to do something until I began to makes plans and actually do it, I was in disobedience. If Joseph had stalled around or piddled or finished a project he was working on, it could have cost Jesus' his life. Now, it wasn't Jesus' time, so I believe God would have intervened. However, God didn't have to because Joseph responded immediately.
Do you remember the last word God gave you?
How quickly did you respond?
Have you done exactly what He said to do?
What was the outcome?
Can you see why you needed to respond quickly, when God told you?
Father, I have not always acknowledged the dreams You give me. I use to wake up on the run to get going with my day and didn't even stop to take in what you told me during the night. I want to give You the first few moments when I wake up. I want to listen to what You have to say. I want to remember the dream, if You have given me a dream. I make myself available for You to speak to me in dreams. I will pause in the morning and give time for the dream to be remembered and for You to point out the importance of the dream. I praise You and give You glory, for You are amazing. You are so much fun. I receive the dreams and will take the time to receive understanding and come into alignment with what You are communicating to me through those dreams. Thank You for taking the time to speak to me through dreams. I stand in awe of You and worship You for Your ways are higher than my ways, Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. I praise You in Jesus' name amen.
