Warriors Arise: October 30, 2021
Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV) Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”
"And so it was"
"That as they went"
"They were cleansed"
"That as they went", I love the word "that" in this sentence. It refers to something happening in the "as they went". There was reason for their going. A reason why they needed to go. A purpose to obeying what Jesus said. It refers to a miracle in process. Their "going," opened the door for their healing/cleansing to begin and become complete.
There can be times when God tells us to do something and we want the end result before we do what He has said to do. In this case, they cried out to Jesus. They did not come close to Him because they were lepers. They wanted to honor what the rules said they needed to do. If a leper came in to town or within hearing of another they were to shout out, "Leper! Leper!" in order to give time for people to move away. When Jesus saw them, He said to them...He gave them instructions. That as they went, they would be cleansed.
My question today:
What has God told you to do? Did you do it? Did you receive His mercy and grace, yet not return to have been restored to the community and church or reconciled to your former relationships?
Many times God comes along side of us and cleanses us, but we do not return to what He originally had for our life.
Father, I want to completely trust You to cleanse me and heal me. I want to know the fullness of Your love to restore my purpose and place in Your church. I want to know the fullness of Your love to reconcile the relationships that were torn from me. As I return to the past, I want my "that" moment, my "that" opportunity, my "that" cleansing. I ask for healing in my mind, will and emotions. You complete me in every way and give me strength to return to those who have rejected me and cast me away. You are my Healer from the very depth of my soul and thought in my mind. I will return and offer myself to being restored and reconciled in Jesus' name amen.
