Warriors Arise: July 24, 2023
Matthew 3:16 - 4:1 (NKJV) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
The second reason I am certain we are given the Holy Spirit to empower us is that He leads us to receive what Jesus has given us. He has given us Salvation; however, according to Matthew 28:18, He has given us authority. We are not given a little bit of authority; we are given the same authority He has. He gives us all authority, just like when He walked here on earth.
Matthew 28:18 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
Luke 10:19 (NKJV) Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
What is the devil? He is a serpent and we have all the power over the enemy. God has given us a tremendous gift, the Holy Spirit, to anyone who asks. He has given us all authority over the devil. God created the earth. God created everything on earth and the entire universe. God created animals and plants. God created human beings in His image. God made earth for us. The devil was not given a consolation prize when he lost the battle in heaven. Even though he fell from heaven like lightning, it doesn't mean earth was given to him. We are to rule and reign here on earth as God rules in heaven (check out the Lord's prayer in Matthew 6). God does not let the devil rule in heaven. The devil doesn't even get a say-so. The devil doesn't have any influence in heaven. He is not to have a say-so here on earth. He is not to have any influence here on earth. He is not going to get a place to sit at my table. I will not invite him into my house. I will shut the door on him every time he tries to enter. I have been given that authority by Jesus Christ. I have been empowered by Holy Spirit, because I have received Him and continually position myself to get filled by Him.
Father, I receive Holy Spirit and the gift Jesus gives me to have all authority over the devil. I will position myself to be filled with Holy Spirit and overflow with His demonstrative power over the enemy and His love to bring freedom to all people. He will lead me, guide me and counsel me to defeat the enemy. I will honor Holy Spirit and listen to His counsel. I will follow what He says, for I know He has Your heart for me. I know that He knowsYour thoughts and already has the solution. I will be confident in walking in the fullness of all Holy Spirit has to offer. I will honor His Word and live each day in relationship with Him in Jesus' name amen.
