Seeds of Life

Warriors Arise: March 19, 2023

1 Chronicles 16:7-13 (NKJV) 7 On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord:

8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord!

Call upon His name;

Make known His deeds among the peoples!

9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;

Talk of all His wondrous works!

10 Glory in His holy name;

Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!

11 Seek the Lord and His strength;

Seek His face evermore!

12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,

His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,

13 O seed of Israel His servant,

You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

WOW! Verse 13 us really powerful, "O seed of Israel…" A seed speaks of such hope, heritage and legacy. They have a rich heritage in their forefathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If the people did not recognize themselves as Israelites, he calls them specifically, "You children of Jacob." When we start off with you, the person is directing what they are said to include everyone who can hear them. Then he proceeded to tell them, "You... are His chosen ones!" Every part of this verse, this statement, is pivotal to our lives today. We are the seed a thousand generations down the line. As a believer in Jesus Christ, one who has confessed our sin and received Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we are a part of the seed of Israel. Scripture tells us we are grafted into God's family through the bloodline of Jesus Christ.

We are seeds of the promise of God. We are seeds planted in God's garden, because Jesus rescued us from the garden of sin and planted us in the garden of life, hope, and eternity in heaven. When a seed is planted, it not only can produce something we can eat or enjoy, it produces seed for the next generation of growth. If a seed is not planted, it can go dormant or be crushed and die. God has an abundance mentality.

When David gave this declaration of who they are, because of who they came from; he is sharing kingdom principle. When a farmer harvested his crops they didn't eat everything they harvested. They would have to hold some of the seed for the next time they needed to plant. If you eat all of the seed, then there is none for next year's crop. They have multiplied from one generation to the next. It started out with Abraham and Sarah. They didn't have any children until God spoke of the promise of a child. Abraham had to wait twenty-five years for that promise. But it did come. The Word of God was a seed for the promise of the son to come. David was reminding them of the seed they came from. They are descendants of Israel. One seed became two seed. One seed became twelve seeds, who we know as the twelve tribes of Israel. They traveled by tribe when they were in the wilderness from slavery in Egypt to the Jordan River. Now, they live in the land God had set aside for them and continue to plant and grow as a nation. They are living the legacy of the heritage their forefathers have lived before them.

He is telling them, "You will be leaving a legacy for your children to live. You are children of Israel. His seed has given you opportunity for this life. What will your legacy be for your children? You are the chosen ones." People can be given a position by what others have fought for and never embrace the battles that they need to fight to give the same freedoms to the next generation.

Recognize the heritage you have and the legacy others have lived before you. Honor what they have done and been through. Then be the seed that produces for the generation to follow you. Allow yourself to be planted in what God has given you. Do not allow the things of this world to break you so you can't produce. Do not allow yourself to become dormant because you choose not to embrace being planted in God's will for your life. You are a seed and you have so much potential to produce 30-60-100 fold. If you were a cob of corn, then you would have more than a 1,000 kernels. If you eat all of those kernels, you have left nothing to plant for the next season. We have to learn to not eat all we have been given. That means we can't live our lives based on what we want. We have to live our lives with the future in mind. What I save and invest in the future is what will continue the flow of what God is doing through me, because I didn't keep everything for me; but for the legacy to come.

Father, You are amazing in all of Your ways. The seeds that have been planted before us have invested their seed in future generations. I pray I would continue to plant for the future generation. I pray I would keep what is needed to plant and produce more seed for the future of Your kingdom. I am chosen by You. I am a part of Your family. I will plant seeds that produce the abundance for Your kingdom's expansion in Jesus' name amen.
