Warriors Arise: May 6, 2021
Daniel 6:25-27 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. 27 He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth
Asking questions is a way to learn. God is not afraid of answering our questions. Asking questions can be an indication that we are ready to learn. Not only are we ready to learn but we are positioned to listen. When we listen, we will gain understanding. When we have understanding, we are willing. Now the question is once we have understanding what are we willing to do?
Darius wants the people to have understanding of what Daniel's God, the living God, has just done. He wants the people within his dominion to understand the strength, power, and love God has for those who stand in awe of Him, search for Him, and are faithful in their relationship to Him. He wants his people to have the understanding of how deep God's love is forward those who are faithful. He wants his people to be in awe of the living God. When we are in awe of God, we respond willingly to what He says. When we tremble before God we recognize there is no one on earth or in heaven who is more powerful than He.
In reading verse 27 and asking God, "Why do You do signs and wonders in heaven?" It could mean that He does signs and wonders in the sky, the atmosphere around earth or beyond? The Bible never tells us God stopped creating. He rested on the 7th day but it doesn't say He stopped creating. Do you think man is ever going to build a telescope that can see beyond where God has created? Is this why people are intrigued by sci-fi movies? Is there a passion inside of scientists to discover another star, supernova, or galaxy, because God wants us to see He is continuing to create? The drive to pursue finding life somewhere else? Sometimes I wonder when another star is found if God just created it? Did they really miss it or was it just created?
What would be a sign or a wonder in heaven? It could be God's continual act of creation. However, I think the angels are baffled every time God has written the name of a human in the Lambs Book of Life.
They see how we have sinned.
They see how we reject His love.
They see how we struggle to overcome the enemy.
They see how we wander off and God sends Holy Spirit to bring us back.
They see how we lie, cheat, and steal every day. Yet God forgives us every time we ask.
They see the anger of God rise because of our selfish acts and rebellious ways and the mercy of God be ever present each morning.
They see the kindness of God leading people to repent.
They see Spirit of God guide us and we walk away.
They have been faithful; they did not rebel; they did not need a Savior and yet, they will never be sons or daughters of God.
Signs and wonders are present all over the world on a daily basis. I realize that is a bold statement. I am convinced God is always revealing Himself, as He did with Darius, through His signs and wonders. In Exodus 24, God calls the elders of Israel to come and meet with Him, celebrate with Him on the mountain. They were to celebrate their freedom. It was a call to worship what He had done for them. He had delivered them from Egypt, from 430 years of bondage, slavery and torment. But the people would not go. They told Moses to go. Moses took Aaron and 70 elders but the people would not go. My point to bringing this up: God had a party planned. We roll out a red carpet but God laid out sapphire stone under their feet; it was like the very heavens in its clarity (vs. 10). Prior to the paths of sapphire leading into the presence of God there was another time when the heavens touched earth. This was right after the 10 commandments were given. God was offering a covenant to His people. Generally when a convenient is made and both sides agree there is a celebration. God lit up the sky and the cymbals of heaven crashed but the people were afraid. God was more powerful that Pharaoh, who ruled the earth. He had humbled Pharaoh to nothing. God commanding the elements of the earth to obey Him as a cloud led them by day and a pillar of fire by night. Now, the very mountain where God commissioned Moses He was calling forth the people to met Him. God already had the party started and wanted them to join Him. It was a time of celebration because He gave them freedom.
Exodus 20:18 (NKJV)Now all the people witnessed the thunderings, the lightning flashes, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood afar off.
Fear paralyzes us. Fear steals our faith; therefore, we cannot believe for the freedom God offers. There is no doubt in my mind, we have all seen a sign from God and experienced the wonders of God. Depending on what you believe about the living God, will cause you to respond differently. Too many of us are numb to the signs and wonders of God. We want it to be a sign or a wonder we command and at the time we say. But God doesn't do what we say because we are His children not His parent. He is the parent, we are His children. We are made in His image. He does not conform to the image we dream up in our mind. The Pharisees tried to trap Jesus into to giving them a sign but He was not subject to their whims. Day after day Jesus did wonders mong them and they would not acknowledge the power of God touching the lives of the lame so they could walk, the blind so they could see, the possessed so their return to their right mind, the mute to speak, and the dead to come alive. They missed it. Have you?
Father, I do not want to miss the signs here on earth that reveal Your awesomeness. Open my eyes to see the wonders you do in heaven. You are amazing. You demonstrate Your power over the elements of the earth and sky. Your love covers our sin and restores us to the purpose You have place inside. I lift up the name of my Lord and Savior. I lift up the name of my God, who was and is and is to come. I lift up Holy Spirit who reveals the things of God to my body, soul and spirit. You are my God and there is no other. I will celebrate with You for all You aha done, the freedom You have brought into my life, and the dreams You have planted within me. I will seek You each day and worship You. I will declare the love of my Father and release Your kindness. I will go with you to the mountains and make convenient with You. I will see the heavens quake and the earth shutter at Your greatness. I will see You paint the morning sky and rumble in the storms. You are my God and there is no other in Jesus' name amen.
