Warriors Arise: October 27, 2023
Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
I realize we are not to be arrogant to full of pride; however, when we swing the pendulum to the other extreme, how would anyone know about all then wondrous things God has done.
Psalm 72:18 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things.
Revelation 12:11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
These two verses give us reason to shout what the Lord has done from the rooftops. We are to be the light of the world. A light is seen from a great distance away. Our light is to shine so brightly the entire world sees us.
Do you remember hearing, "I could see them coming from a mile away!"? This should be you and I. They should see us coming from a mile away because our light is shining brightly. For our light to shine brightly it first must be turned on.
If you are saved then you andI have been lit by God. We have the Holy Spirit within us. You have the light the world needs to see. When people are in darkness they cannot see where they are going. They may not even know what they are supposed to do. They may seem confused or non committal because they have no hope for the future.
You and I have been given the light. This light is supposed to be for all the world to see. It isn't for personal boasting purposed. There are times when people can think we are boasting about ourselves, but we are clearly excited for what God has done and wanting to give Him credit. If we are focused on the ones who are the Pride Police, then we may pass up the opportunity to give god credit where credit is due.
How does God get the glory, honor and pride due to Him for all He has done if we will not allow our words to boast in our God. I struggled with this for the longest time. I was afraid to tell anyone what God had done because I was afraid they would think I was bragging about myself or that I thought God loved me more than He loved them.
I had to let that mindset go. If they judged me inappropriately then that would have to be on them. I am to be a light burning bright so others can see Christ in me. I must testify of what God has done so He is given glory, honor and praise.
I am also hoping by testifying of what God has done in my life the others will believe and grow their faith to believe what God can do in their situation. It is so important to give God the glory for what He has done and when we do people may say, "I saw you coming from a mile away!". And that is a good thing. Jesus shines brightly within us and for the world to see what He will do for HIs children.
Father, I am delighted in You. I am forever grateful for all You are doing in my life. I praise You for Your goodness and delight in Your love. You make provision for the littlest desires. Even today, as I am at the conference, You are providing for me and have protected me and my children on this trip. I worship You for working all things together of my good. I am learning things that are incredibly help to me, my family, my job, and the ministry You have called me to. I will praise Your name and testify of what You have done in Jesus' name amen.
