The Collision

Warriors Arise: April 22, 2023

1 Chronicles 16:8-35 (NASB) Oh give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name;

Make known His deeds among the peoples.

9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;

Speak of all His wonders.

10 Glory in His holy name;

Let the heart of those who seek the LORD be glad.

11 Seek the LORD and His strength;

Seek His face continually.

12 Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done,

His marvels and the judgments from His mouth,

13 O seed of Israel His servant,

Sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!

14 He is the LORD our God;

His judgments are in all the earth.

15 Remember His covenant forever,

The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,

16 The covenant which He made with Abraham,

And His oath to Isaac.

17 He also confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,

To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

18 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan,

As the portion of your inheritance.”

19 When they were only a few in number,

Very few, and strangers in it,

20 And they wandered about from nation to nation,

And from one kingdom to another people,

21 He permitted no man to oppress them,

And He reproved kings for their sakes, saying,

22 “Do not touch My anointed ones,

And do My prophets no harm.”

23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth;

Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

24 Tell of His glory among the nations,

His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.

25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;

He also is to be feared above all gods.

26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols,

But the LORD made the heavens.

27 Splendor and majesty are before Him,

Strength and joy are in His place.

28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,

Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

29 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name;

Bring an offering, and come before Him;

Worship the LORD in holy array.

30 Tremble before Him, all the earth;

Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;

And let them say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.”

32 Let the sea roar, and all it contains;

Let the field exult, and all that is in it.

33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD;

For He is coming to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;

For His lovingkindness is everlasting.

35 Then say, “Save us, O God of our salvation,

And gather us and deliver us from the nations,

To give thanks to Your holy name,

And glory in Your praise.”

David had so much to be thankful for. He is overflowing with the faithfulness of God. Years ago, God sent Samuel to come anoint him as king, but he was out with the sheep. Samuel looks at all of David's brothers, wanting to anoint one of them, but God had already chosen David. I cannot imagine how David felt to now be in fulfillment of what Samuel had done so many years earlier. Think of all he went through to right here in this very moment. The God who chose him all those years ago, saved his life time and time again from: a bear and a lion, from Goliath, countless encounters with the Philistines, Saul's spear at two different encounters, the Amalekites, and an uprising from his own countrymen who did not honor God's anointing on his life. Over and over and over again, God directed his path, saved him, and brought him to this very moment. David didn't want to rule God's people without God's presence. Now, God's presence was in the City of David for all the people to worship. Right now, in the Scripture, David is probably overwhelmed. The prophetic word of Samuel has finally collided with reality.

Sadly, the prophetic gift through Holy Spirit and the office of the prophet given by God, is not one I have seen welcomed, nurtured, exercised, encouraged or commission through believers. According to 1st Corinthians the prophetic is to be active in the church and for believers. However, there is also a strong warning to recognize a false prophet. The problem is most people do not understand what was meant by that warning. A false prophet is one who directs people to worship something or someone other than God (Dest. 13:1-5). A false prophet isn't about being wrong in a prophecy. It is about leading the people to worship other gods, self or carved images. When we reject a gift, we are missing out on what the giver wanted us to have and/or knew that we needed. God knew we needed people in the body of Christ operating in the gift given through Holy Spirit. God gave the office of prophet to the church and yet, we see very few churches opening their doors to this. I wonder how much we have missed because we have rejected the gift from Holy Spirt and God? God made sure 1st Thessalonians 5:19-22 was written. I was shocked to find what was in verse 20 following what is in verse 19. I do not think it is a coincidence. God is being very clear.

I totally understand prophets can use their gift to abuse their position, but it is a rarity for most churches to have any kind of prophetic word on a regular bases. God speaks to His people and He wants His people to share what He is saying. Sometimes it is to the entire church and many times it is for an individual, but God never wants this gift used as a tool to gossip. If He tells you something, it becomes your responsiblity to do something with it. That may mean that you have to ask God want to do with it. 90% of what He tells you is for you to pray about it. It is as if we have amputated a part of the body, those who are gifted by Holy Spirit in prophecy are not getting the opportunity to exercise their gift to edify the body, to seek forth the calling of individuals, and to give hope.

David is excited, because what was prophesied over him over a decade earlier has now come to pass. God worked on his behalf to make it come together as well as keep him alive.

Has anyone ever prophesied over you? What did they say? Did you receive it? Do you need to start aligning your decisions with the prophesy?

I you have not been prophesied over, maybe you need to start by checking yourself, "Am I willing to receive a word of prophecy"?

Father, I repent for quenching Holy Spirit. I repent for not allowing Holy Spirit to speak through me in the gift of prophecy. Forgive me for being closed minded, afraid, and weird about the gifts of Holy Spirit. I pray for You to restore to the church, the body of Christ, the gift and office of the prophet. They are needed and their gifting is needed. I ask for each one to seek time with You and develop their listening ear and how You speak ot them. I pry they would be bold in sharing what You have for the church and individuals. Thank you for the times when someone called me exactly when I needed them to encourage me. Thank you for the times when someone sent me a check and it met a need. Thank you for the times when someone spoke directly to my heart when I know they didn't even realize they were being used by You to give me wisdom. I pray Your people will restore the prophets and the gift of prophecy through the Holy Spirit in Jesus' name amen.
