Romans 8:37 (NKJV) Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
I am a conqueror instead of the conquered.
Jesus loves us so much He paid for us with His blood, with His life. When you made Jesus your Lord and Savior, He made you a conqueror with Him. I am quite surprised at where this verse falls. Let's take a look before verse 37. How could they say we are more than conquerors with what was going on? Yet, they understand being a conqueror does not mean you will not go through things. Jesus was and is the reigning conqueror because of what He went through. You and I are conquerors not because we don't have battles to face, but because of the the battles we found strength from Jesus and won. Christ in us is the hope and glory we demonstrate as we engage in battling the enemy.
Romans 8:36 (NKJV)
As it is written:
“For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
Paul is pulling this Old Testament Scripture out to demonstrate a very important point. You and I need to have a mindset that no matter what we face, even death, we will follow the Lord. It is a mindset we each need to embrace. Is there anything that could happen to you or has happened to you that can take away your victory? The victory you have in Christ? Answer the question. Is there anything that could happen to you or has happened to you that took away or can take away the victory Christ has given you?
We are always a representation of the power of Christ in us. We are to draw upon the power of Christ in us. No matter how long we are in the battle, we have hope. Our Lord Jesus Christ will walk with us while we are in the fire, like Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. We have courage to overcome the giants in our land like Caleb and David. Many times the testimony needs to be broadcast, we lived while walking in the fire. Yes, we are conquerors, but we are more than conquerors, because we have a testimony to share. Our testimony from within the battle encourages others to lay hold of the promises of God, the peace of God, and find the joy of the Lord as their strength in their own battle. There are times when people need to hear about how you endured, why you persevered, where you got the strength to press on when life dealt you such a blow. We all want to know when it will end. But when a war is waged, does either side know the date in which the battle would be over? Not even close. Therefore, we fight because the enemy has waged war against us. We will persevere because we have Christ in us and the joy of the Lord is our strength. We have the Lord; therefore, we have access to supernatural strength.
Let's take a look at what surrounds Romans 8:37.
Romans 8:31-39 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I am a conqueror instead of the conquered.
Father, I pray we would know Your amazing love. You breathe life into us. You sent Your Son and our confession of sin and making Jesus our Lord and Savior positions us to be more than conquerors. I will find the joy of the Lord. I will be strengthened to continue the fight. I will know you are my God and You are second to none. Your word gives me the promise I need to rise and fight when the enemy comes knocking. I will not allow the enemy into my domain but I will take down he giant who seeks to take what You have given to me. You are my God and I will serve You. I will testify of your goodness and how You walked me through the fire. I will tell of the giants You led me to slay. I will walk according to your ways and release Your love through the testimony of Your faithfulness in Jesus' name amen.
