The Goodness of God

November 20, 2022

1 Chronicles 29:11-13 (NKJV)

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness,

The power and the glory,

The victory and the majesty;

For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;

Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,

And You are exalted as head over all.

12 Both riches and honor come from You,

And You reign over all.

In Your hand is power and might;

In Your hand it is to make great

And to give strength to all.

13 “Now therefore, our God,

We thank You

And praise Your glorious name.

I have thoroughly enjoyed pursuing God for reasons to thank Him this month. I hope you have thought of different attributes and characteristics you appreciate about our God. He is worthy of our praise and we should overflow with words that magnify His name. He has been so good to each one of us. Do you recognize how good God has been in your life? Do others want to know about the God you say you love because of how you have received the His goodness in your life?

Most of us would say life has not been perfect, but I beg to differ. You are still living? Nothing has overtaken you? You still have opportunity to serve God. It may not be like you thought it would be but what in life is? We have the wrong definition of a perfect life. A perfect life is not a life without struggles, frustration, disappointment, discouragement, or deep pain caused by our own decisions or how we handle the decisions of others. A perfect life is one who follows the Lord, steps where He steps through the mine fields of life. It will be scary at times, devastating things will happen, and disappointment will gnaw at your thoughts. For most of us, something will happen in life, where we will have to make a decision to cling to God and trust Him or wallow in our wounds. Do you know what trust God means? It means no matter the answer you will live honoring Him, what you do and say will bring Him glory. I get tired of hearing Christians say they trust God, but their actions do not follow their words. The goodness of God isn't about a perfect life. The goodness of God is that in the imperfections of our life God is there to give us His strength when we don't have it.

  • God is there to pour into His love when we don't have any more love to give.

  • God is there cheering us on to get up and keep moving, to leave the past behind and walk into our future.

  • God is there giving us the talk we need that calls greatness from within.

  • God is there proving He has not forgotten us.

  • God is there demonstrating His compassion to do the impossible in our lives.

  • God is there giving us more love than we need so we can give it away freely to others.

People do not have to earn our love, we have more than enough to give to them. The greatness of God in us is revealed to the world in our triumph over apathy, discouragement, weakness, and selfishness. The greatness of God is revealed through us so others can see our triumph came because of God, our strength came from God, our righteousness came from God, our courage came from God, our joining God in great exploits to expand His kingdom here on earth. I thank God for the goodness He has given to me each and every day. I can boldly say God has offered me His goodness every day of my life. My life has not and is not perfect but God is perfect in all of His ways toward me. He is good and His goodness is available for me, just like it is for you.

Father, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for meeting me everyday with your goodness. I receive your goodness. I will not confuse the perfect life with a life without problems, pains, or disappointments. I will seek You and see how good You are by giving me the solution to the problem, the healing my pain emotionally and physically, and turning disappointment into the opportunity to grow, learn and be strengthened. You are my God and You are good to me. I will worship the goodness of God all of my days in Jesus' name amen.
