The Grinch Came Early

Warriors Arise: November 24, 2020

1 Samuel 30:11-13 (NKJV) Then they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David; and they gave him bread and he ate, and they let him drink water. 12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. So when he had eaten, his strength came back to him; for he had eaten no bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights.

David and his men are in a hurry but they are smart enough to know this man may be able to help them. They bring him into the group, giving him bread to eat and water to drink. I am sure David and the men were anxious to ask this man questions. My heart is moved that they took care of this man's need before the knew if he could help them. But they held their personal desires and extended even more aid to the man. They gave him a piece of cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. I am really impressed! Yes, they were hoping this man would know something but they did not question him until he had recovered some of his strength.

Governors all across America are "suggesting" we do not get together with family during the Thanksgiving holiday. Isolation is horrific! Thankfully, Abigail is already home so I have all of my children with me but my heart aches for those who will be celebrating Thanksgiving alone.

The enemy thrives when he can separate us. He knows when we do not have our core support system together he can spins lies in an abundance. The lies can be how insignificant we are because no one cares to make family a priority. People have just become hardhearted. "Your parents are rejecting you again; that is why they don't want you around." "Your kids are rejecting you again and that is why they won't come home." The lies can cause us to entertain thoughts that we would not otherwise think. Since no one cares why should I?

You may have several empty seats at your table this Thursday but that doesn't mean that you allow the enemy to take a seat. There are some you NEVER want to sit at your table and Satan is one of them. Satan is a liar and he never has your best interest in mind. So what is your best plan of attack? How do you make sure that you do not give a seat to Satan?

Here are some of my suggestion, but ask God to direct you and listen.

Fix the same size of Thanksgiving meal you have every year and then give it away. That is what you do every year isn't it? Instead of giving it to your family, you are now giving it to those in need.

Fill plates to take to shut-ins that won't be preparing a huge meal.

Take plates to the homeless.

Write a note of hope for this coming Christmas.

Give them a Scripture of hope or a prayer taped to the top.

Make Christmas decorations and hang them on doorknobs then ring the bell and step away.

Normally you would be spending the day with your family, so take the day to have meaningful conversations with each one even though it is on the phone.

Do Zoom! It is so fun talking with family when you can see them! The app is free.

I feel like the Grinch has come early this year. He stole our Resurrection Day celebration when the coronavirus hit America and numerous family events since. Now he is out to have Thanksgiving. I am done with letting Satan steal family connection, serving one another, and the new memories to be made. Not only do I want us to reach out and make sure I connect with everyone in my family, giving my day to listening and encouraging them but I want to take the leftovers to those who aren't going to see any family this year. I am sick and tired of having to be on the defense. I think we need to be on the offense. There are people out there who need to know someone cares. I will not hide and be afraid of what the enemy threatens to do when I know what God will do! God will protect, restore, and empower His people to reach the unreachable with His love. Tell the Grinch he will not steal the joy of Thanksgiving. Find a way to celebrate. Hurt him where is really counts but sharing your Thanksgiving meal with others. Buy some carry out plates and find someone who needs to know they were not forgotten on Thanksgiving!

Father, I ask for You to speak to us. David and his men were in a hurry. They needed to be going but they found this man in need. They stopped what they were doing and gave what they had to this man. As people are scaling down their Thanksgiving plans I ask for You to guide us to who we can bless with a meal and a prayer. I am asking that we would listen to You and be willing to search and find those who need a meal, a Scripture of hope, a blessing. I ask for You to come and give us courage to step out of sorrow and heartbreak from canceled Thanksgiving plans and see what You would want us to do instead. Give us ears to hear You and courage to do what You say to do. I ask for the vaccine to come without any negative side effects. I ask for You to enter into the rooms and homes of those struggling with the coronavirus and touch them with Your healing peace and unfailing love. I ask for You to intervene to get people who are suffering from the coronavirus the very thing they need to be healed. I rebuke this coronavirus in the name of Jesus and I loose the fullness of Your power to conquer every stan of the coronavirus. I pray for Your peace to come and minister to those who need a touch from You. We need You. Come and release Your love through Your people in Jesus' name amen.

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
