Warriors Arise: April 9, 2023
1 Chronicles 16:7-25 (NKJV) On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord:
8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
10 Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
11 Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
13 O seed of Israel His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
14 He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
15 Remember His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,
16 The covenant which He made with Abraham,
And His oath to Isaac,
17 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel for an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the allotment of your inheritance,”
19 When you were few in number,
Indeed very few, and strangers in it.
20 When they went from one nation to another,
And from one kingdom to another people,
21 He permitted no man to do them wrong;
Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,
22 Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones,
And do My prophets no harm.”
23 Sing to the Lord, all the earth;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
24 Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
25 For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is also to be feared above all gods.
God is Great and He is greatly to be praised. Not just a little bit, not behind closed doors (only), not only in the car, but He is to be greatly praised. I just don't see it. I don't see Christians as a whole, representing God as great, nor do I see God being praised greatly.
Greatly (Strong's): properly, vehemence, i.e. (with or without preposition) vehemently; by implication, wholly, speedily, etc. (often with other words as an intensive or superlative; especially when repeated): — diligently, especially, exceeding(-ly), far, fast, good, great(-ly), x louder and louder, might(-ily, -y), (so) much, quickly, (so) sore, utterly, very (+ much, sore), well.
Today, as we go to church and corporately worship God, I challenge you to break free from your personality. Break free from what others think. Break free from whatever mindset prevents you from knowing the Lord is great. Do you know the Lord is great? Do you have testimony of the Lord being great in your life? Really? Say them out loud. Remind yourself of how the Lord has been great in your life. Then you will praise Him with purpose. You will praise Him unashamed. You will praise Him with your heart. You will praise Him with your mind. You will praise Him with your strength. You will praise Him with your body.
If we can't praise Him boldly, out loud, unashamed today, then when can we? This type of praise should not be the once-a-year praise. It should be everyday, out loud, in techno-color. The Lord is greatly to be praised. David didn't ask them; he is telling them. He is trying to get them to see, the Lord is worthy of all your praise. What about today? Is the Lord worthy of all your praise? How will you praise Him today? Will it be all about the colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and abundance of food?
My heart cries out for people today to be looking for Jesus like we teach the children to hunt the eggs.
We want them to get as many as they can. Do you get as much of Jesus as you can?
We want them to get there before someone else. Do you get to Jesus before someone else?
Are you disappointed when another child gets to an egg you were trying to get your child to pick up? Are you disappointed when other children get Jesus and your child hasn't engaged yet?
We want to count the eggs and see how many. Do you count your blessings every week to see how many times God blessed you?
We want to see if our child picked up more eggs than the other children. Do you want to see if your child has engaged with Jesus more than the others?
We want to see if our child has the "good candy" inside the eggs. Are you looking for your child to share with you about their God-experience, the good (God) stuff in their day?
Today, are you showing up to church like you train your child to show up for an egg hunt? Are you ready to pursue and receive what God has for you? Are you ready to greatly praise the Lord?
Father, I want to pursue You like I taught my kids to collect the eggs. I pray I would show up everyday like I am expecting to find the eggs of Your goodness through all the dead grass, sticks, bushes, and trees. I pray I would see You, find You and get to You quickly. I will not hold back my pursuit of You. I will praise You, because I know You are worthy and have always walked me through the hard and led me to the goodness You have for me. You are great and I will praise You greatly in Jesus name amen.
