The Judges Chamber

Warriors Arise: March 18, 2023

1 Chronicles 16:7-12 (NKJV Strong's,) On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the Lord:

8 Oh, give thanks to the Lord!

Call upon His name;

Make known His deeds among the peoples!

9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;

Talk of all His wondrous works!

10 Glory in His holy name;

Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!

11 Seek the Lord and His strength;

Seek His face evermore!

12 Remember His marvelous works which He has done,

His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,

How do you hear David saying verse 12? Read it again, "Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgements of His mouth." What do you think he is making reference too? I think David sees this for himself but also for the people.

David is remembering being a shepherd boy and nothing changing in his future but to be a shepherd boy for the rest of his life. He is remembering playing for Saul and the demons being subdued. He remembers Goliath and what a crazy act of righteous anger mixed with faith when he ran onto the battlefield. He remembers the number of times Saul sent him into battle and he could have been killed. He remembers fighting against he Philistines, then with the Philistines. He remembers Saul throwing the spear at him twice. I think he remembers Saul pursuing him to kill him. He remembers his wives and children being taken by the Amalakites. He remembers the years the Israelites rejected him a their next king when they all knew God had anointed him by the prophet Samuel. He remembers God meeting Him every time he was rejected and every time the Lord came through. He remembers the marvelous works God has done in his life. He remembers the wonders of what God has done. He remembers the judgements of God. When he diligently pursued God to find out why Uzzah had died and God's way for the ark to be carried.

He would have read about the judgment of God. God will judge, not because He is looking for a way to punish us. He judges because a good judge will make a decision based on right and wrong. God will rejoice and celebrate what we have done right. God will also discipline us when we have purposely chosen to do wrong, to sin. To be a righteous judge, He has to judge according to the truth. However that is not to say, that He doesn't pardon us from our sin when we repent and at times He will remove the consequences. God didn't have written in the Bible the consequences for breaking the rules nor so He had a right to discipline us. He wrote the consequences, because many of them are natural in their outcome. They are the cause and effect; they are the if and then. He begins with the blessing of living to honor Him; but wants us to know there is a decision made depending upon if we choose righteousness or rebellion. He has to come out of the judges chamber and render judgement. But, He is always hoping we will ask to come to the judges chamber and make things right through repentance, before He has to render judgment. I hope you see His amazing love for you. When I look back at my life and the times when I have engaged and partnered with sin, the enemy takes me to the heavenly court and begins spewing the accusations. God hears the enemy and the accusations are true. He takes a recess and goes to HIs judges chamber. There He waits. He knows to be a righteous judge, He has to come to a decision. However, He waits. He doesn't want to discipline us. He doesn't want to "throw the book" at us. He wants us to come clean. He want us to ask to see Him. He wants us to come into His judge's chamber and repent, turn from our sin and receive His forgiveness. Then when He comes out to release the verdict, He sees His Son as our defense lawyer. Through the defensive blood of Jesus, our sins are removed as far as the east is from the west. There may be natural consequences from our sinful actions, but God's love, mercy and grace turn the mess into a message of redemption.

David encouraged the people to remember the marvelous works and love of God. He also wanted them to remember God will judge not because He wants to, but through our sin we have put Him in the position of judge. When David researched how the ark was to be carried. I am sure he read the account of the Israelites in bondage in Egypt and when they rejected God, not wanting any part of the land He had promised. The consequences of our sin is real. When we set our heart and actions against God's will for our lives, we have embraced rebellion instead of the benefits of relationship with Him.

Father, I come before You. Graciously, You have heard my confession of sin and forgiven me. Many times You have removed the consequences. I am completely grateful for the love of Your Son to wipe the slate clean again. I am thankful for the Holy Spirit, who leads me and speaks clearly to guide me away from sin. I pray my ears to always be attentive to Holy Spirit. I pray I would honor what He says. As I remember all of the times Holy Spirit got me out of a bad situation or a sin or doubtful thinking, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I came so close and He led me away. I ask for an increase in hearing You. I stand in awe of Your forgiveness toward me. I am amazed at the marvelous things You have done in my life and through me. I praise You in Jesus' name amen.
