Luke 19:1-6 (NKJV) Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully.
YES! There was no hesitation. He was ready when Jesus saw him. He was ready when Jesus spoke to him. He was ready when Jesus invited Himself to spend time with him. Zacchaeus received Jesus joyfully! He brought Him to his house. They communed together. They ate together. Zacchaeus put all of his other plans on hold and received Jesus joyfully!
When the king arrives how do you receive Him?
Are you positioned?
Are you ready to receive what He says?
Do you doddle or move quickly?
Do you come down or do you stay where you are?
Do you receive Him joyfully or think about what you have to miss out on because He has so rudely invited Himself over when you had other plans?
Do you receive Him joyfully or think about how must work will have to be done to provide a meal for Jesus and His disciples?
When the king arrives how do you receive Him? Take time to meditate on this. We can think we are ready but are we really? We can think we would hasten when the Lord says to go and do, but do we really? We can think we would come down from our position, we have elevated ourselves to but what do our actions say? We can think we are doing what God has said, but really we have our own plan, our own agenda and want Him to rubber stamp it. Do we joyfully make a shift in our day to embrace time to commune with Him?
Father, I think I would position myself. I think I would want to be seen by You. I think I would come down quickly, if not fall out of the tree trying to get down, but honestly I don't know. I can be wrapped up in my schedule and my to-do that I might miss You. I ask for You to quicken in my heart, in my spirit Your presence coming. I pray I would respond quickly to get into place. I ask for be seen by You. I pray I would catch Your eye and receive Your instructions. I pray I would respond joyfully to Your instructions, to Your invitation which is going to disrupt my schedule, my plans. I ask for my heart to willingly, joyfully welcome You. I pray not matter how much cleaning needs to be done in my life, I would welcome you in. I pray no matter how full my schedule is, I would put it all aside to commune with You. I ask for You to come, see me and call me into Your presence as I allow You into all of my life in Jesus' name amen.
