The New Normal

Warriors Arise: March 8, 2021

1 Corinthians 7:17 (NKJV) But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk...

I didn't like it last year when the media would sell their propaganda of the "new" normal. The reason people like normal is because we are creatures of habit. If we were honest with ourselves, we do not care anything to come and make a change to our lifestyle, routine, position of authority or influence and don't even touch our finances. We like to think we are in control. However, there are circumstance that hijack our way of life, the way things have always been and the way we expect them to be.

  • Loss of job

  • Termal diseases of a family member

  • Accidents costing us repairs and health check ups

  • Breakdowns stealing on our finances

These are things we do not expect but they happen to people everyday. But then we as a world faced the threat of COVID and some were overtaken by it. When it became known, I called for people to pray for Jesus to intervene, and God to meet people in their rooms, wherever they were. I wanted each one to have the opportunity to know God's amazing love to heal them and save them. I wanted them to have the opportunity to be directed to where their healing would come from and if they didn't get healed that they would live eternally in heaven. It was as if the world we live in was hijacked, threatened by this disease like the Black Plague. No one seemed to have answers. With all our scientist, we needed God to give the formula for the vaccine. We needed God to hold up a standard the enemy could not penetrate. It has been a battle where we have lost very dear loved ones. We continue to pray for the purity of the vaccine against COVID. We continue to seek God to give wisdom to the research and development of the scientists to keep the vaccine pure with no altering side effects.

It is nice to know God is with us and through it all He is bringing us out on the other side. We are not going to remain in what the media said would be our new normal. We submitted to God, looking for His lead and listening to His voice. We resisted the threat of the enemy to steal our faith, stood strong against the doubts and shiftiness of information, and clung on to the hem of Jesus' robe. And, yes, there were some warriors of the Lord who lost their earthly body to gain their heavenly place. I am thankful they believed through their end here on earth. They will be marked with many others in the book of Hebrews, who believed even though they didn't see their victory here. That is the best way to go into heaven, knowing that you believed without wavering in the fullness of God's promise for you.

Through this past year, what has changed for you? We do not have the timeline for Daniel. He doesn't waste words from Daniel 5:30 to 6:1 and 2. But there was a time span. Daniel did not get promoted the next day. Many of the Babylonian hierarchy could have been saying, "Welcome to the new normal. We are captives again!" I don't believe Daniel surrendered to that mindset at all!

Did the past year change who you are? Think about it. Your situation maybe changed but did you? As a Christian we should go through situations differently than nonbelievers. We should come through with the character of Christ still in tact. Technically, we should come out of the stressful situation, the time of captivity and bondage differently than nonbelievers too. Daniel had several times when he could have surrendered and embraced the "new normal" but he did not allow what had been taken from him to alter who he was and would become.

After being carried off from Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar Daniel would not embrace the new normal. Did he riot or revolt against the king? No, he kept himself pure and God blessed him.

Daniel 1:17-20 (NKJV) As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18 Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. 19 Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

Then after Belshazzar was murdered and Darius the Mede came into power Daniel still did not embrace the new normal. He did not rebel or cause a fight. He remained faithful to God and stood for righteousness. He did not yield the one thing they could never take away, His faithfulness to God.

Daniel 6:3 (NKJV ) Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.

No matter how the circumstances change in your life, it does not mean you are to change who God has created you to be or what He has positioned you to do.

Father, You have called me to specifically represent You. I ask that I would be faithful to all You have called me to do. I ask to be strengthened in the times of chaos. I ask to be focused on what really matters. I want my life to demonstrate Your peace to embrace where You place me and the level of excellence that represents You well. Circumstances may chage but that doesn't mean the circumstances change me. I will be Your child. I will embrace the calling for which You have called me. I will follow You, speak for You, serve where You position me and love Your people. I will worship You alone and embrace Your plan for my life. I will seek You and be found by You. I will listen and hear Your wisdom. I will utilize the gifting You have given me. I will serve others with the talents You have given me. No matter what the circumstance may be I will serve You faithfully with all that I am and all that You are in Jesus name amen.
