Psalms 16:11 (NKJV) You will show me the path of life;

In Your presence is fullness of joy;

At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I receive joy, so I give joy.

In the presence of the Lord is fullness of joy. There is no better place to be than in the presence of the Lord. God reveals the path of life through the gift Jesus offers each one of us. He offers Salvation. When we accept Jesus into our lives and walk according to His ways, embracing a relationship with God the Father, Jesus our Savior, and Holy Spirit our Counselor, we have fullness of joy.

John 17:13 (NKJV) But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves.

When Jesus prayed to the Father, His desire is for each one of us to have His joy. He wants His joy to be full within each one of us. He wants us to know His pleasure toward us. When we know His pleasure toward us, joy overflows from within us. As His joy overflows from within us, then we are capable of giving joy to other.

Think of Jesus as water flowing from heaven and we are water pots. He delights in us; therefore, He fills us with His joy. When we receive His joy over us then we have His joy to pour out onto others. This can be difficult to comprehend. One reason so many Christians do not express joy is, because they have not received the joy Jesus has for them. They have not allowed themselves to hear how much the Father delights in them. When God tries to tell them they have done well, they say, "No, I could have done better. It really wasn't that good. There was more I could have done….etc. " When we reject the Father's delight in us we reject the joy Jesus has given us. It is as if we have a lid on the opening of our water can. Therefore, we do not have the joy of the Lord, so we can't give the joy of the Lord. Which is why we can't delight in others or celebrate what they have done. Think about a time when you know God delighted in you? Can you think of 5 times when the Father's joy beamed over you? What about 10?

I sure hope you can because His joy pours out upon you daily. He pours out joy upon you every time you pray, every time you read your Bible, every time you lift His name up in worship or thank Him, ever time you acknowledge the work He has done in another's life, every time you encourage another Believer, every time you believe for the impossible, every time you step out in faith, and every time you chose to honor Him.

Romans 15:13 (NKJV) Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I receive joy, so I give joy.

Father, I come before You and ask to receive the joy of the Lord. I want to be filled up to overflowing with joy. I want to be able to give joy to others. I want to receive Your words of delight and joy over me. I want to be drawn into Your presence and be filled to overflowing with Your joy. I receive right now the fullness of Your joy and know that as I receive I am to give it to others. I will remain under your flow of joy and pour it out upon others. I will express Your joy for them. I will speak words of encouragement. I will acknowledge Your joy in what they have done to honor You. I will build them up in Your ways that they will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus' name amen.
