Warriors Arise: July 25, 2021
Daniel 10:10-12 (NKJV) Suddenly, a hand touched me, which made me tremble on my knees and on the palms of my hands. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.12 Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.
Does that last phrase not cause your brain to explode?! The angel tells Daniel, "I have come because of your words." You, because you prayed, I, the angel of the Lord God Almighty, have come.
I have to pause and let that sink in. Really think about that. Could you imagine being told this? And then to think, this angel, he touched me. He has been in the presence of God. God spoke to him about me and he touched me. No wonder, I can't keep for trembling.
At this point, it would probably be too much for me and I would have fainted. To think because of me, God sent an angel. It reminds me a lot of the centurion who asked Jesus to heal his servant.
Matthew 8:5-13 (NKJV) Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, 6 saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” 7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard it, He marveled,... 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.
I believe God answers prayers like this all the time. More times than not, He is so quick to answer. I'm not sure we truly give Him credit when He intervenes. We didn't have to pray 21 days. We didn't have fast for 10 days. We didn't have to ask for Jesus to come and lay hands on our friends or family members. God answered and healing came, bills were paid, relationships were restored, resources were provided, and people wanted to help us fulfill our calling. Daniel is trembling because the angel has touched him. Daniel might have been thinking, "What is an angel doing in my prayer room? This must be worse than what I thought!"
Then to have the angel say, "I have come because of your words." One might think, "What words? I didn't ask for an angel. I was just reminding God of His Word given by Jeremiah to the captives. Our 70 years of captivity are done. I'm ready to go home." Maybe the trembling didn't stop, because Daniel was afraid plans had changed. They would be there longer. Maybe the angel was sent to tell him that he would not be returning home. His entire focus for the last 70 years had been to serve whomever he had been placed under and pray to God three times a day, facing Jerusalem to remind himself of the promise to come. One day they would return home. Now before Daniel stands an angel and who is speaking to him.This angel has been sent because of his words? This angel has been sent by my words. His mind is wrapping around what is happening and what has happened. This angel touched me. He wanted me to know He was real, who he was and where he had come from. And he is about to tell me why he has come. Something is definitely up.I have got to pull myself together.
Have you ever been given a time limit on something? You were only going to stay and it had been a difficult to stay but then circumstances changed things. You were going to have to stay longer than you initially thought. It had been tough but you knew each day was closer to "that day" when you would get to leave, but then something changed. Now, you have to stay longer, you don't have any idea when you will be able to leave. Many felt that sting last year during COVID-19. People were planning vacations last summer that got postponed again and again. Governors told their people they couldn't meet for Thanksgiving or Christmas. There seemed to be an indefinite period of isolation and fear release, as we were told winter 2020-21 would be a black winter.
We pressed into God last year. I started Warrior's Arise April 1, 2020. It was to petition God to remove the deadly virus, stop the riots, restore honor to people of all ethnic backgrounds, the police, military, and people groups, no matter their status. We were initially told 6 weeks and this would be under control. We would go back and finish the 2019-2020 school year, only to have virtual learning extended half way through the 2020-2021 school year. Businesses remained closed. Families were separated, not knowing when they would be able to get back together.
Daniel wasn't sure what it meant to have this angel delivering a message from God, rather than being certain that he and his people could return to Jerusalem. If it were me, I would be hoping for a knock on the door, rather than a visitation from heaven. Like the centurion, "You don't have to come, I am unworthy of your presence in my home, but please heal my servant, please remove the threat of COVID-19, strengthen our lives, remove the strain of the threat of the affects of COVID-19 for the medical world, grocery stores, teachers, etc. Let us return to work, and restore relationships in our families. Jesus, healed the centurions servant without going to his house. However with Daniel, God sent a messenger angel. There is no way I would believe Daniel had any less faith than the centurion. Remember, Jesus marvels at the centurion's faith. Since Daniel's faith is not in question, the message must be extremely important. God didn't send His answer in a dream or vision. He wanted it "hand" delivered. The angel was there because of Daniel's prayers, his very words to God.
Father, I know You hear my prayers. I am grateful You love me so intensely that if I need a dream, vision, or heavenly presence You meet me right where I am at. You know how I will receive Your direction. I can be restless wanting You to act as soon as I think it is time to move, change, or connect. I trust You to know what is best and that means I trust Your timing. You engage with me every day so I know You hear my prayers, speak to me with hope and courage, and open my eyes to see what You have before me. Thank You for loving me with actions. Thank You for meeting with me, guiding me, and calling me forth into what You have for me. I will continue to pray for Your kingdom to expand here on earth. I will continue to pray for Your love to lead people back to You. I will continue to pray for Your will to be done because I trust You. I submit my prayers to You in Jesus' name amen.
