The Touch of God, Part 2

Warriors Arise: July 15, 2021

Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.

Clearly, God had intended to create woman at the same time He had plans for creating man. It is as if Genesis 2 gives us more detail about the creating of male and female, but it doesn't mean they happened days or years apart. Maybe that is true if we pull from 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

There is a reason why male and female are created. After verse 27, we see in verse 28, male and female were created to be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. One man and one woman would not have the ability to rule over all the earth, have dominion over all the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and over every living things that moves on the earth. God's made man first and from man He fashioned woman.

Man was molded from dirt, packed together, the best mud sculpting there was. I envision God molding man's heart and lungs, bones with muscles, brain with skull then adding dirt on top and softly placing dirt in the cracks and crevices between each organ. Then God leaned down and breathed into man. Can you imagine?

The miracle of the breath of God. When God breathed into man, everything that was touched by His breath was transformed from piles of sculpted dirt to flesh and bone, a brain that could learn, think and reason, a heart that could pump blood, lungs that filled with the very being of God. A masterpiece of finely sculpted dirt now had purpose and passion. The very dreams of God breathed into man.

I sit here in awe. Picturing this pinnacle moment in time. All God had spoke into existence, the galaxies and the starts, the earth and moon, the water int he air and in the sea, the land and all the seed, every living thing that crawls upon the earth, flies in the sky, and swims in the sea. All of these were brought into existence by the very spoken Word of God. Then God forms man with His hands and didn't speak but breathed directly into man and sculpted dirt became life. The breath of God touched every grain of dirt used to make man and the each piece of dirt became a cell and the cells became tissues and the tissues became organs. Each cell makes up the brain, the hair, the skin. In my Dad's biology class I learned blood is blue until it comes into contact with oxygen. The more oxygen, the redder the blood.

When the dirt came in contact with the breath of God, it became flesh and bone, brain and ability to think and reason, a muddy mess to a magnificent masterpiece. But God wasn't done. God studied his masterpiece and gave him an assignment. God purposely let man see his need. Because God gave man the ability to think, reason, and learn, He had to give man a opportunity to use his mind the see his need. He also gave man the ability to reason that he didn't want to do all this work by himself. LOL! He needed a woman to make his honey-do-list. LOL! (Ok, totally kidding there, just a humorous thought that ran through my head.) Man recognized every other animal had a helper comparable to its kind. Not only a helper but a way for there to be a legacy. Looking all over, naming new animal after new animal, new species after another species, there was no comparable helper for himself.

Genesis 2:20-22 (NKJV) So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.

Father, Your breath touching eery piece of dirt to make a masterpiece in man. Then you took a rib, a bone from man to fashion woman. Your breath would've touched that rib and that rib was what you worked with to create woman, the perfect comparable helper for man. You are amazing in all of Your ways. I do not understand everything You do nor how You do it. But I like to picture the detail You took to forming every part of man as you molded the dirt. I like to see the dirt change to flesh and blood when Your breath his it. Then to see You take a rib and fashion woman, the perfect comparable helper for man. Men and women are so different, it seems at the time the only thing we have in common is the rib. I ask for You to touch each man and woman and bless each marriage. I pray they would identify how You have brought them together and agree to strengthing their marriage by acknowledging their need for each other. I bless each marriage to have eyes for the one You brought to them. I bless each marriage with support, honor and encouragement. I bless each marriage with courage to commit every thought, every way to becoming one and accomplishing all You have for their union in Jesus' name amen.
