The Touch of God, part 28

Warriors Arise: August 11, 2021

Mark 10:13-16 (NKJV) Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” 16 And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

Just to add a cherry on the top Jesus blessed them. The power of the blessing is amazing! Esau was enraged when Jacob stole the blessing. Esau wept bitterly upon hearing the news. His father was mostly blind and Jacob had dress up like Esau. The family blessing was something to be coveted. It meant you were set for life! But that wasn't enough for Jacob. He was on the run from Esau. He wrestled with God throughout the night and says, "I will not let go until you bless me." Jacob understood the power of the blessing. The blessing was not something one had to earn. The blessing was something you had to be in position to receive. The blessing didn't even have to be intended for you, such as Isaac thinking he was blessing Esau when all the while he was blessing Jacob. The blessing still stood. When Esau comes to receive the blessing from Isaac, he says he has nothing left to give him. He had given everything to Jacob and he could not overturn it. Now that is a powerful believe in the blessing. You would think since Isaac didn't know he was blessing Jacob, it wouldn't stick; but that is not the case. The one who is there to receive it and believe they have received it will receive it. That really blows my mind! Isaac thought he was blessing Esau but it wasn't; yet when he is made aware that it wasn't who he thought he says he can't reverse it. How many of us have missed God's blessing because we wouldn't position ourselves in God's presence to receive it?

The children had come into the presence of Jesus. He held them in His arms. He laid His hands upon them and then He blessed them. What about the children who were afraid to come to Jesus? What about the children who were shy? What about the children who would not leave their parent's side to receive the blessing Jesus was giving to these children? Those who were watching would have known what He was doing. Blessing people with words of affirmation, speaking into their future things that are not yet seen is a very common part of the Hebrew culture. They believe in the power of the blessing. Jacob sold his birthright for a bowl of lentil soup but he wept over the fact that he was cheated out of his father's blessing. The birthright meant he had two times the inheritance what his brother would get. That he sold for soup. Think about receive two times the inheritance over your siblings. Jacob didn't care about that. But the blessing, his father's blessing which was words with nothing attached to them, he wept. They believed in the power of the blessing.

Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)

Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family' And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

This is why Hitler could never win over the Jews. Hitler met his end but the Jews continue generation after generation. Have they had terrible, disastrous times? Absolutely! But God intervened and has saved a remnant of their people every time. He blessing will stand the test of time.

Jesus taking the time to bless the children is huge! It is beyond what my mind can comprehend. It is too easy to see the negative in someone's life and fail to see with God's eyes. Remember when God blesses Abraham, he is already older in years. His wife is barren and yet God blesses him to say he will make him into a great nation. Human eyes could not see this but God knew it to be true. The human mind could not comprehend it but God's ways are higher than our ways. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

When we start thinking like God because we are seeing with His eyes into the lives of those around us our words will powerful alter their lives. We will breathe hope into their being and they will align their steps with God's plan if they are willing to receive.

Romans 8:31 (NKJV) What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Once a blessing is spoken and rceived there is tremendous power within the one who receives. I could put Scripture after Scpriture of the power of our words; however, what we need to know is how to bless. Blessing someone is believing for what we do not see. It is calling out deep unto deep. It is knowing God wants to touch their dreams and ignite their destiny with the power of the blessing. We do not know what it will look like but we do know it will come to pass if we will continue to be diligent with what is before us.

Genesis 27:27-29 (NKJV)

And he came near and kissed him; and he smelled the smell of his clothing, and blessed him and said: “Surely, the smell of my son Is like the smell of a field Which the Lord has blessed. 28 Therefore may God give you Of the dew of heaven, Of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of grain and wine. 29 Let peoples serve you, And nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, And let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, And blessed be those who bless you!”

There is nothing really specific about that blessing and when you read about Jacob's life to see how this all played out, you see how the blessing came to be. Why is it so hard to bless? Could you, with all your heart, with all your mind, speak a blessing like Isaac did for your child? If you didn't want to pour all of it on to one of your children, could you speak parts of it to all of your children? Read the blessing. Think of your children. Can you align your mind, heart and faith into blessing your children with parts of the blessing Isaac gave? What would change in your children's lives if you could speak for this blessing to them? What is holding you back?

Father, as a parent, I have not known how to speak this kind of life-directing blessing into my children. I ask for You to guide me as I practice in prayer and then speak over each ne of my children. I pray for my children to receive the blessing. I ask for it to take root within them and touch the dreams You have placed within them. I ask for You teach me how to bless my children in such a way, their lives are empowered to accomplish all You have put inside of them to do. I ask for You to help me align my faith with what You want me to say in blessing each one. I ask for You to prepare my heart. I want to believe with all my being with everything You desire to bless my children through my words. Come and speak to me, give me faith to believe for all You rave for my children and the power I have to call forth their destiny in Jesus' name amen.
