Warriors Arise: August 19, 2021
John 9:6-12 (NKJV) When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. 8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?” 9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.” He said, “I am he.” 10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” 11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.” 12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.”
I am impressed. The man who has been healed is ready with his answer. He is not questioning what has happened to him. He is not confused with what has happened. He is not hiding what Jesus has done. He is ready with his answer. No one was probably ever ready to hear what he had to say. That day, when people are asking him, he is ready. He has probably wanted to be a part of conversations in the past, but because he was blind no one would listen to him. No one bothered to talk to him, asking him anything or even tell him anything. Why tell him what the sunset looked like, he couldn't see it. Why tell him how the ox was difficult in the field, he wouldn't know the frustration of your work day. Why ask him what cloak he wanted to wear, it wouldn't matter because he couldn't see. But today, he can see and he can tell and he will answer because today, they are asking him.
His first time to actually have people wanting to know something from him. He has always been dependent upon others, but today, is different. Today, people are wanting to know how he was blind and now he sees. Even though they can see he is the same man they saw had been blind year after year, begging in the streets; they can't figure out what has happened. They know he was blind. They each probably tested him in some way over the years. They probably waved their hand in front of this face or dropped something just out of his reach to see if he would grab it. They would test him just to make sure he wasn't trying to pull one over on them. What are your thoughts when you see a blind person? Do you feel sorry for them, do you wonder how much they can see? Are they totally blind or just color blind? These people had seen this man for years, he was blind, but now he sees. They want answers. No one just sees when they haven't seen all their life!
The man who sees is ready to tell them everything that happened:
A man called Jesus
Put clay on my eyes
Anointed my eyes (maybe he didn't know it was spit, maybe it felt like oil)
He told him to go wash in the Pool of Siloam (and that is what I did)
The man spoke clear. He spoke to the point. Before, most people wouldn't have listened longer than that. So, I am sure, he had to learn to be clear and concise or people would move on.
When Jesus touches your life and causes a transformation, are you ready with an answer? Are you concise? What is it that people need to know in order for the event to testify of what God did for you?
Remember the last time Jesus did something in your life? Can you make 4 short points to share what happened and Jesus get the glory?
Father, I want to testify of the miraculous things You have done in my life. I am not ready to share and because of that You are not being glorified nor am I opening the opportunity for others to seek You in their time of need. I ask for You to remind me the the latest miracle You have done in my life. Help me to formulate what to say. Give me boldness to share. I don't have to convince anyone of what You have done. I just have to share what happened. I pray I would honor You with my testimony. I pray I would bring glory to Your name. I ask for people to notice what You have done in my life so I can share what You have done. I pray I would be an open book with all that You have done in my life. I receive Your touch so I will be changed. I pray for the exact words I need to share so they will believe in all You do. Come and give concise words and a bold heart in Jesus' name amen.
