The Touch of God, part 42

Warriors Arise: August 25, 2021

John 9:6-12 (NKJV) When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. 8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?” 9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.” He said, “I am he.” 10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?” 11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eand said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.” 12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?” He said, “I do not know.

Remember how this started? One of Jesus' disciples asked, "Who sinned this man or his parents that he is blind?" Jesus said neither...but that the works of God should be revealed in him."

There are times when Jesus is walking through the city or village and there is not a crowd following him or pressing in on Him. It would seem this is one of those times. There are also times when the Pharisees were trying to lay their hands on Jesus and he seemed to elude them. This man was healed so the works of God should be revealed in him. There are a handful of times when Jesus didn't want to draw a crowd. He would heal or deliver someone before the crowd arrived. When he delivered the boy from the demonic control, the demon manifested in the boy. Jesus sees a crowd coming just commanded the demon to leave and the boy is free. I can think of several reasons why you wouldn't want a crowd around when you are doing the miraculous.

This was one of those days. Healing this blind man was a teaching point. His disciples had asked a question and He answered then demonstrated. As the man goes to the pool of Siloam. Jesus and His disciples go on about their business in the city. The man who has had God revealed in him returned where his neighbors were and those who know him. They asked where Jesus is and he didn't know.

We do not know if he had been out to look for Jesus or if he went straight to his neighbors and those who know him. But what he did was, "... He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eand said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

Thankfully, we do not have to go somewhere to find Jesus. We can introduce people to Jesus anywhere, any time. Once we introduce them to Jesus, they will know the Father.

John 14:9-11 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

These verses in John 14 totally support what Jesus is teaching His disciples. Jesus laid hands on the blind man and God was revealed in him. Jesus and God working in unison to bring the revelation of the Father's love. We introduce Jesus to people and then God works in them. It didn't seem to bother the man that he didn't know where Jesus was. He knew what Jesus had done. He knew the power of God's touch in him. He knew he was blind and then he saw. He knew he was changed. He knew Jesus touched him. He knew God's power resonated in him.

Father, today is different than when Jesus walked the earth. He could only be in one place but now we know we have access to Jesus every day no matter where we are. Thank You Jesus for coming to earth to die on the cross for my sins. Thank You for conquering death and hell. Thank You for walking the earth after You triumphed over the enemy. You are easy to access because You are at the right hand of the Father interceding for our success in overcoming the enemy and achieving the destiny God put within each one of us. I will lead people to You. I will tell them of what one touch can do. I will testify of Your faithfulness in Jesus' name amen.
