The Touch of God, part 46

Warriors Arise: August 29, 2021

John 9:13-17 (NKJV)They brought him who formerly was blind to the Pharisees. 14 Now it was a Sabbath when Jesus made the clay and opened his eyes. 15 Then the Pharisees also asked him again how he had received his sight. He said to them, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and I see.”16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This Man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” And there was a division among them. 17 They said to the blind man again, “What do you say about Him because He opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”

The touch of God upon someone's life can cause people to respond in different ways. We do not tend to respond with what is right before our eyes, because many times our minds cannot wrap around what we are seeing. When something seems impossible we have to allow our mind to believe it. Our mind can override what we are seeing. I have literally taken my hands up to either side of my head and brought them forward as say, "I've got to wrap my mind around this truth." It was so far beyond what I could believe that it was as if it was floating outside my mind. If I didn't capture it then my mind would have no landing place for the word fo truth or reality of the miracle.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV) “For My thoughts are not your thoughts,

Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.

9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,

So are My ways higher than your ways,

And My thoughts than your thoughts.

A man gets healed of blindness and the Pharisees want to discipline the Man who healed the him of blindness. Rules they can wrap their mind around, but a man being healed of blindness from birth is too much for their minds to comprehend. What we cannot comprehend we tend to want to disregard, dispute, and devalue. Their first response deals with their heart, locked into the right and wrong of living. God does have a way He wants us to live, because His ways always leads us to work out for our good (Rom. 8:28). Jesus died and rose again, so we would have the opportunity to have the abundant life here on earth (John 10:10). The Pharisees, like so many believers and non believers, live with the knowledge of what is right and wrong, but they do not live their lives with the fullness of God's love. Rules are easy to grasp. They are a firm foundation upon which we capitalize upon; but when something takes faith, then we have to tap into something beyond what our mind can naturally believe.

God continues to do miracles in the lives of people all over the world. He demonstrates His love every day. These miracles can be with boldness like Esther and Daniel, healing like the blind man, leapers, and woman with the issue of blood, courage like David to fight Goliath or Jonathan and his armor-bearer who fought a full garrison of Philistines, strength like Samson or one who has lifted a car off of someone stuck underneath, and prosperous like Abraham and Isaac in the time of famine. How were the people so blessed with demonstrating the miraculous in their lives? They positioned themselves to do what God empowered them to do. They asked God to give them courage, boldness, healing, and strength. They sought God and when He gave, they received. They didn't say, "I'm not worthy." They embraced the circumstance before them and trusted God. They acted upon what God put in their heart to do. They received their miracle.

The reason it is difficult to believe for the miraculous move of God is because there is no formula, no rule to follow. But when the miraculous happens we have a choice. Will we wrap our mind around what is truth, the reality before us, and believe what God has done or do we say why this can't happen or shouldn't have happened? The Pharisees were stuck. They had heard, and many had seen, Jesus heal many people. By their response, they chose not to believe the miraculous because their mind would not believe what they were seeing. Their mind had to have a reason not to believe so they fell back on the rules. This can't be from God, because it happened on the Sabbath.

Father, I am glad Scripture gives us a blueprint for how to live, but it is not to be a prison. Your word is to be a place with safe boundaries. Within these boundaries are blessings, we prosper in our health, finances, and relationships. Within these boundaries we can be bold and courageous against the attacks of the enemy and the ways of the world. Within these boundaries we have strength to stand for righteousness and honor. Within these boundaries we can see the miraculous love You give to Your people. These rules are meant to be freedom to our soul. They alleviate the pressure of the world and empower us to reject the temptation of the enemy. These rules are not to put You in a box. If anything these rules allows us to live outside of the world's box and within the fullness of Your miraculous love. I worship You because You do not withhold any good thing from me. You set me up to advance Your kingdom with Your truth. I worship You because my mind does not have to comprehend and have an answer for everything. In those times, I can say, "This is true because I see it and God's ways are beyond my ways." You can do anything. Nothing is impossible for you in Jesus' name amen!
