The Touch of God, part 5

Warriors Arise: July 19, 2021

Isaiah 6:7 (NKJV)

And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips;

Your iniquity is taken away,

And your sin purged.”

God knows what we need for what we are to do next. Isaiah is a prophet in the land of Israel. The king had died and the nation was in mourning. Isaiah is a prophet in the land and people are looking to him to have an answer. Think of the emotions a nation feels when their leader dies, especially if it is a leader of the people, a leader who follows God. It can really cause a lot of uncertainty in people and turmoil in the nation. But Isaiah has a God moment.

Isaiah 6:1-8 (NKJV) In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;

The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”

Even though the king of the land has passed away God has not passed away. God is still on His throne and He is still in control. Heaven is not a place of chaos. There is stability and certainty in heaven. God knows His people are feeling the strain of the loss of their king. However, He opens up heaven for Isaiah to see that no one in heaven is shaken by what has happened on earth. God is still on His throne and the angels haven't missed a beat in calling out praises to God and declaring His glory over the earth.

I am curious as to why those words. Why did Isaiah hear those particular word, "the whole earth is full of your glory."? Even with Isaiah being invited at that particular phrase to see God on His throne leads to some questions that have answers.

They had just lost a good king, yet the angels say, "the whole earth is full of Your glory". When things are happening like we think they should, it is difficult to see the whole earth being full of God's glory. We feel there is a gap in time or in our particular place where God wasn't there to protect from sickness or provide the healing or strength the weak. However, God is there and He has an answer. When we will turn toward Him in the midst of our hurt, pain and devastation God will lead us to the answer, "What is next? What now? What am I to do?"

I do not know what Isaiah was saying prior to this God moment. I wonder if thoughts of accusation and blame had begun to cross his lips. I wonder if he was devastated with an overwhelming sense of grief, distress, uncertainty. He says, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; These are words of a man under conviction. Maybe Isaiah didn't say anything against God, blaming God, question God. As he evaluates his words in the presence of God he realizes the thoughts that were running through his head, he has heard many throughout the nation speak. His mouth had maybe spoke questioning the timing of God.

As a prophet, Isaiah would be held on a greater level of accountability and responsibility for each word he spoke. Before he could go any further, God intervenes. He gives Isaiah a chance to be cleansed of his words. Why would God want the word of his mouth to be pure?

James 3:8-12 (NKJV) But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. 11 Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? 12 Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.

God needed a man, a prophet who would speak not from his own thoughts but from what God would reveal and say. We cannot tame our tongue. Most of the time it is run by our feelings and lack of taking the time to see the truth in a situation. However, if we allow God to touch our tongue what we say will bring life to others. When we refuse to allow God to touch our tongue, to purify our speech, we spew unclean things that damage others and the plans of God.

Isaiah sees the angels calling out holy, holy, holy to the Lord of Hosts, the whole earth isn full of His glory. However, his response would lead me to believe, his words toward God were not in line with what the angels were saying. He was not professing the whole earth being filled with God's glory.

God did not get offended and turn His back on Isaiah. God reached out to him and pulled back the curtain into the spiritual realm for Isaiah to see things weren't as terrible and hopeless as it seemed. God is still on His throne and He has a plan. It is bing released all over the earth. Why did God reveal this to Isaiah?

God was not done with Isaiah. God still needed a prophet in the land. God had a mission for Isaiah to fulfill. God needed him to see the truth. There is stability in God's kingdom and His plan. Isaiah needed to know he is still the man God is going to use to release His word to the people. Isaiah needed a touch from God; but he had to realize his need before God proceeded. Isaiah needed to be a fountain of fresh water. He needed to speak the words not from his flesh but directly from what God said.

Many times we do not have the fullness of what God has promised because we aren't speaking forth what is from God. We are seeing uncertainty, insecurity, and chaos. We are seeing hopelessness of pole who do not know to turn to God for their strong tower. We need to see God and know He is holy and the whole earth is full of His glory. We need to recognize we have-not been speaking from the well fo fresh water, words of hope, strength, peace and direction from God.

One touch of God upon our lips to restore and reposition us into God's plan.

Father, I yield to You. You are on Your throne. You do care about what is going on all over the earth. You do provide an answer. You desire Your people to know the truth about You and to declare Your goodness. You desire for each one of us to trust You. You will provide an answer. We are to be ready to receive the answer and to get our emotions and thoughts inline by allowing You to lead us in what we say. I will seek You. I will not allow my thoughts to run away from the truth. I will seek You because in You is truth and way out, comfort and a path to joy, purity and a strength for the truth. You are my God and I will submit to You what I say. I will descale with the angels that You are holy. I will see Your glory being active all over the earth. I will declare the truth of Your love and goodness even in the midst of adversity for You will make way out for Your people in Jesus' name amen.
