Warriors Arise: September 4, 2021
Matthew 9:18-21 (NKJV) While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples. 20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
This woman has quite the tenacity to be made whole. She does the unthinkable. If she truly believed Jesus was who He appeared to be, then what she did was completely out of line.
Leviticus 15:25-27 (NKJV) “If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, other than at the time of her customary impurity, or if it runs beyond her usual time of impurity, all the days of her unclean discharge shall be as the days of her customary impurity. She shall be unclean. 26 Every bed on which she lies all the days of her discharge shall be to her as the bed of her impurity; and whatever she sits on shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her impurity. 27 Whoever touches those things shall be unclean; he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.
When she touched the hem of Jesus' garment, by law, she made Him unclean. This is so powerful. Every fiber of her being wanted to be made well. Every law restricted her from being in crowds, around people. She had to get to Jesus. She tried to follow the rules, but that left her broke. She had spent all of her money on doctors to be healed but they took her money and did nothing to heal her. But she still had a desire to be healed. She heard of Jesus and hid herself in the crowd to get close to Him. She was not trying to make Him unclean, but she wanted to be healed. She had been bleeding for 12 years. I can't imagine her lack of strength, but her mind was on point. She steadied herself and pushed through the crowd to get to Jesus. She would not allow Him to pass this close and miss her opportunity to be healed. She knew she couldn't make herself known because everyone would know who she was and that she had made them unclean. They would all have to leave and go wash before evening. She had to get to Jesus. Can you imagine the number of people who would have mocked her if she had told them her plan? You are going to do what? Do you think power just flows out of Him like water poured out fo a bucket? This illness has made you crazy! Who even knows this Jesus and by what power He operates? You would be worse off than you are now. The priests will not support Him, so why do you think this will do you any good?
Numbers 15:37-41 (NKJV) Again the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God. 41 I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.”
Can't you hear her underneath her breath say to God as she approached Jesus, "I am a daughter of Abraham. I remember how You brought my ancestors out of bondage and You can bring me out of my bondage. I will not be like this for 40 years. I have repented for my sins. You are my Lord, my God. I will be made whole again." I think she spoke that to herself all the way through the crowds every time she was pushed down she got up and pressed in. Every time someone stepped in front of her, she stepped forward into the crowd. Her determination was on target with the Man who had healed so many, surely His power would be released as she touched the hem of His garment.
Do you have that kind of tenacity? What is holding You back in life? Is it a mindset? Becuase she was not going to allow any mindset to hold her back. Generally, whatever we think is holding us back is not the real issue. What is holding us back in our mindset. We can't seem to see past the mountains in front of us. We can not see how we are going to get through the mountain, over the mountain or around the mountain so we remain separated from our deliverance, healing, restoration, relationships, resources needed for our dreams, etc. because we will not find tenacity to get through the mountain, over the mountain or around the mountain.
Father, I need tenacity. You have put enormous dreams inside of me to fulfill. You have given me purpose in my life and I desire to fulfill that purpose. I want to dig deeper within me and find tenacity to get through the mountain that is keep me from my destiny. I want the fortitude to climb the mountain in front of me. I want the wisdom needed to get around the mountain in front of me. I ask in the name of Jesus for tenacity, fortitude, and wisdom to compel me to fulfill my purpose and live out the dreams You have for me in Jesus name amen.
