The Touch of God, part 84

Warriors Arise: October 6, 2021

Matthew 9:29-30 (NKJV) Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” 30 And their eyes were opened.

I can be partial to the translation of the Bible I prefer; however, today I accidentally hit a key that changed the translation and WOW! did it pop! My mind raced because I didn't know what I had done. "That isn't what I wrote about yesterday. I don't remember that. But WOW! That totally brings things into a new perspective."

Matthew 9:29-30 (MSG) He touched their eyes and said, "Become what you believe." 30 It happened. They saw.

What was your first reaction when you read this same verse in The Message translation? "Become what you believe."

I could feel my nerves shimmy inside of me. Ouch, what if God were to tell you, "Become what you believe."

  • Would you need to change what you believe?

  • Would you evaluate why you believe it?

  • Would it lead you to change how you believe?

"Become what you believe." For most, we have become what we believe.

  • If we are not a risk taker; we do not take risks.

  • If we do not see the value in others, we do not value ourselves.

  • If we do not believe God will answer our prayers then we don't ask or we don't pray with boldness.

  • If we live life the same old, same old, we do not see God has doing something new every day.

  • If we see ourselves as uneducated, we won't offer what we know.

  • If we see ourselves as weak, we won't speak when called upon.

  • If we see the impossible and don't seek God to make it possible, we remain where we are.

  • If we see ourselves trapped in the life we have then we don't prepare ourselves for when God opens the door.

  • If we see ourselves as grateful for each day, we look for the special parts of the day.

  • If we see ourselves in the presence of God's peace, we are able to shake off things that would normally rattle others.

  • If we see ourselves as valuable, then we look for ways to help others achieve their dreams.

  • If we see ourselves as stable, then we offer strength and confidence to others.

  • If we see ourselves as teachable, we will teach others.

  • If we see ourselves as fruitful, we will encourage others to offer their gifts, talents, and abilities.

  • If we see ourselves as confident, we will encourage others to take the risk.

"Become what you believe." What does your life and reaction to life tell about what you believe in God and the value He has placed upon your life, the dreams He has placed in you, and the purpose He has called you to fulfill?

Father, this is a mirror into my life, into what I believe. This statement speaks volumes. I have to believe before I can become. When my mind says I can't believe until I become. Now, I have to acknowledge that I will trust Your Word over what my mind has believed. Your ways are higher than my ways. Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. You are for me and I will trust what You say. I will remove my thoughts that do not line up with Your Word and Your calling upon my life. I will embrace all You have said I would be and become. I will not allow my mind to limit what You can do in me and through me in Jesus' name amen.
