Warriors Arise: October 16, 2021
Matthew 9:23-26 (NKJV)When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.
How many times have I been sick and I think, "Jesus come take me by the hand!" Thankfully, I do not get sick that often, but there was a time probably 10 years ago when I was so sick I thought, "I am going to die!" Obviously, an over exaggeration, but the pain was so great that is exactly what I thought.
What I love about this testimony of God's touch is that Jesus was not deterred by what others said. "Oh, she is dead; well I guess I'm too late." No, Jesus was moved by God. He did what He saw God doing. He obviously was led by God to come to the ruler's house. He was not going to be daunted by the report of others. God brought Him here, so He was going to administer the demonstration of God's love and bring healing to this little girl.
It reminds me of a song we sang years ago, "Whose Report Will You Believe" by Ron Kenoly. Here are some of the lyrics:
His report says, "I am healed."
His report says, "I am filled."
His report says, "I am free."
His report says, "Victory."
Whose Report will you believe; We shall believe the report of the Lord.
Jesus was not listening to the flute players nor the noisy crowd of wailers. He was listening to His Father. He was listening to the report of His LORD. He listened to God the Father. There are times when people will speak what they see, what they know has happened. But their knowledge is spoken before they have asked if that is what the Lord's report says. We can't stop people from giving their opinions, but we can position ourselves to listen to what the Lord says. what God says is not an opinion, It is what is possible for those who will believe. The length of the battle is different for each one of us, but will you, will I stand firm on what God has promised. Will we stand on what the Lord has said until He reaches out and takes our hand?
Father, help me to remove the opinions of others from my mind. Help me to not focus on the symptoms of the disease within my body. Help me to turn to You, position myself before You and draw strength into every fiber of my body for Your truth, Your say-so, Your direction, Your-outcome. Your love for me is amazing. You will not be turned back by what people are saying. You will not stop what You have already put into motion. You are coming to me with Your will to be done in my body, in Jesus' name amen.
