Warriors Arise: October 20, 2021
Luke 7:11-17 (NKJV) Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. 16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.” 17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.
The touch of God is powerful in way that goes beyond what we can think or imagine. It touches the deepest parts of us and restores us to life again. In this miracle, the boy literally comes back to life. We have seen Jesus touch the demon-possessed boy and who seemed like he was dead. Jesus reached down and took his hand and pulled him up on his feet.
Then there was Jairus' daughter who everyone said was dead, but Jesus said she was just sleeping. Perspective is everything. The people perceived she was dead, but Jesus had God's perspective. One of my top 10 favorite movies from all time is The Guardian. It is about a state champion swimmer who joins the Coast Guard to be a swimmer, rescuing people in danger in the ocean. Senior, the guardian, has a concept he is teaching everyone at boot camp. He drills into their minds the concept "there is dead and then there is dead." He goes on to tell them, "We are not the ones who declare someone dead. You continue to give CPR until you touch ground and the paramedics come to take over. You are not the coroner."
We want to decide when a matter is over, when a purpose is lost, when a destiny is dead by what we see. We have gotten into this mentality that if it isn't easy then it must not be God. There are times when things flow without hinderance, but there are times you have to press in, get to work, and keep working until God does the miraculous or says it is finished. Keep breathing life into your purpose, into your calling, and into the dreams God placed within you. You may have laid down, said it was over and are letting the enemy or people tell you, "This isn't going to work. This must not be for you. You must have heard God wrong." But God reaches down and touches your coffin, And He said, “Young man [woman], I say to you, arise.”
Father, when You created me and knit me in my mother's womb, You had dreams You placed inside of me. You called me to be Yours and You put the desire in my heart to fulfill the calling You placed upon my life. It has felt like I have met resistance in my life that has kept me from living the dreams You placed within me. I turn to the right and there is a wall, I turn to the left and there is a wall. I look beneath me and there is a wall. I try getting out where my feet are and there is a wall. I try going above me, where my head is and there is a wall. I felt like they might as well just put the lid on. I need Your touch. I need You to reach in and recover what was lost, restore what was stolen and redeem what was declared dead. I need Your touch to return life to me. I need Your Word to tell me what to do. I receive Your word and respond as You direct. Resurrect what was dead and renew my mind to receive and walk in everything You dreamt I would be and do in Jesus' name amen.
