1 Chronicles 15:14-15 (NKJV) So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. 15 And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders, by its poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the Lord.
They knew. The priests and Levites knew they were to be ones carrying the ark of God, on their shoulders, with poles. They knew, but there is no record that they even tried to tell David. Why did they not tell? There is nothing righteous or holy about withholding information, especially when we know what God has commanded.
Since they knew, David includes them in being responsible for Uzzah's death. Has there been a time when you knew that God told you to do something and you allowed someone else to do it?
Yesterday, I shared about how the calling God has placed in your life is irrevocable. I have such an intensity in my spirit about this point. Too many times, I have seen Christians relinquish their calling, renounce their purpose, and sidestep their destiny. We do not realize how many people we put in danger of derailing their calling or sabotaging their purpose, because we won't step into ours.
Paul gives the analogy that we are all members of one body. We all have a place of working together for God's purpose (1 Cor. 12:12-27). His desire is for the Gospel to be spread to all nations. We are to work together to expand His kingdom here on earth. In order for this to happen, we are to work together. We have a message to deliver on behalf of the King. We have Good News to share, we have the Gospel to make clear to all nations. We must stop renouncing our responsibility. They knew, the priests and the Levites knew it was their responsibility to transport the ark of the God, but they didn't get word to David. They didn't return to their position. They did not honor God's command, that they were the ones to carry the ark.
We know, just like they knew. We know what God has commanded us to do. So, why do we get so caught up in living life in the same place, doing the same thing, with the same people? There is nothing about that aligning with what God has said we are to do.
Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Acts 1:8 (NKJV)But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
We, as Christians, do not have the heart of God if we are not finding ways to expand His kingdom, as we fish for men and get the Gospel to every nation. We get too comfortable in our day-to-day happenings that we fall asleep in our responsibility as God's children to advance His kingdom to all nations. We know what we are to do just like the priests and the Levites knew. Their consequences were the loss of Uzzah; but how many of died without knowing Christ because, we have not gotten the message of Jesus Christ to all nations? Will this be on us? Will their blood be on us? Will we realize in heaven the number of lives who do not get to join us in heaven, because we relished our Salvation, but didn't get involved to release the kingdom of God to all nations?
Father, I come before You know and seek Your forgiveness. I have been wrong to isolate myself in comfortable day-to-day activities that are keeping me from seeing the lost. They are keeping me from going to the nations. They are limiting my view of what You want. Forgive me, for I have sinned. I ask for You to come and remove this slumber and apathy off of me. I will rise. Open my eyes to see You. Open my eyes to see the people. Move in my heart that I might see You and what You want me to do. I pray I would not limit what You can do through me. I want to say, "Yes," to You and Your plan. You are my God and I will follow You in Jesus' name amen.
