Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
If it isn't enough that God is already doing a new thing, it is in the process, right now of springing forth. He is going to make not one but plural, rivers in the desert. We can get in the mentality that God gives us just barely enough. However, that thought is contrary to Scripture. When Jesus did the miracles of feeding the 5,000 then later the 4,000, He had leftovers. He didn't just have leftovers, because everyone ate less than expected. Scriptures tells us everyone ate to their fill. They didn't just get a bite and pass it along. They had their fill.
What does that mean to you? What do you picture in your mind? Did the people say, "Oh, there might not be enough so just take one piece." I don't think so. That would not coincide with what Scripture says about each one having their fill. When I think of someone having their fill, I think they filled their plate. They ate a health maybe even heaping portion. They were full when they were done. They were not in want.
Matthew 14:16-21 (NKJV) But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” 17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” 18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” 19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. 20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. 21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
Matthew 15:32-38 (NKJV) Now Jesus called His disciples to Himself and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now continued with Me three days and have nothing to eat. And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
33 Then His disciples said to Him, “Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?” 34 Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?”
And they said, “Seven, and a few little fish.” 35 So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground. 36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude. 37 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left. 38 Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
What is my point? In Isaiah 43:19, God is going to make rivers in the desert. Not just one but more than one. We don't know how many but there will be rivers in the desert. Jesus feeding the 5,000 and later the 4,000 should not have surprised them because the Father fed the Children of Israel their fill every day for 40 years in the desert. He also brought water from two different rocks on two different times of their wandering in the desert. He brought them so much quail to eat that they were sick of it. I should be shocked to think God would provide "just enough" when He provides to our fill. God is so good to take care of us.
I wonder how many times we miss what God is providing for us. Maybe we do not like who it is coming from. Some of the people might have been offended that Jesus didn't hand the food out Himself, but sent it out with His disciples. Maybe we don't like the kind of fish Jesus is providing. Would you eat it anyway? Just makes me wonder if some of the people who were there didn't eat what was provided. Maybe Jesus did make just enough but there were enough people who refused to eat what He provided for personal reasons. Maybe that is why their were 12 baskets of food left over with the 5,000 people and 10 baskets left over with the 4,000.
It is a choice. We do not have to receive what God has provided for us because He had "them" offer it to us. We do not have to accept the way out God has given us, because of personal reasons, maybe we want to do it ourselves. Surely, if I just keep trying, I can do this. But God, provided a way which means you may not get out of your situation if you do not accept the means in which God provided. If we could provide for ourselves, if we could get out of the situation ourselves, why would God even bother. These people, the 5,000 and the 4,000, they didn't have options. Sometimes our brains can get in the way of receiving what God wants to give us, what He is providing for us. Maybe it has come by the most unlikely source or the "them" that you just can stand. I have had to humble myself more times than I can count. My pride has gotten in the way because I didn't want what God was providing for me from the person He was using. I have repented time and again because my pride stinketh! God in His infamous love held His nose and cleaned me up.
Since Isaiah 43:19 clearly reveals how God is doing something new and continues to make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, I want you and I to be ready, to see it, to receive it, to travel down he road He made and drink from the rivers He provided.
Father, You are amazing. You didn't have to do the miracle through Jesus twice but You did. You were making a statement of Your abundant love and ability to provide in the middle of nowhere. God, I can feel like I am in the middle of nowhere and lack what I need to move forward. Will You come and meet me? Will You teach of Your abundance, Your love for me and Your power to provide to my fill? I position myself before You and receive what You are about to do. I will humble myself and receive from those who are in Your service. I will honor Your provision and glorify You in Jesus' name amen.
