Warriors Arise: May 11, 2021
Exodus 2:5-6 (NKJV) Then the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river. And her maidens walked along the riverside; and when she saw the ark among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it. 6 And when she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby wept. So she had compassion on him, and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”
Pharaoh's daughter knew who he was. She knew Moses was one of the Hebrews' children. She was moved with compassion. Today was her day to be a part of God's plan of redemption for His people. Throughout the Bible we see where God uses people who were not "His" people. They were not the "chosen" people; but God still positioned people to be a part of His plan to accomplish the greater good for His people. Can you think of people God used who were NOT Hebrew, they were not the Children of Israel, from the seed of Abraham?

We can get trapped in thinking, those who are not Christians cannot be used by God; but that is not the truth. God will use anyone who will be moved by His direction. Pharaoh's daughter was was moved with compassion. She went against her father's wishes when she would not be a part of killing this baby. Maybe she didn't agree with what her father was doing but there was not a way for her stop him either.
Matthew 9:35-38 (NKJV )Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Compassion is a strong motivator. In the above passage, Jesus is already doing the miraculous for everyone who comes to Him. However, here, in Matthew 9, He sees from His Father's perspective. In the midst of doing the miraculous, He sees the people. He remembers the purpose for which He was sent. Yes, He is showing Christians how to live as overcomers. He is demonstrating that the demonic are to have no hold on God's people. He is calling life to the things that are dead. He is giving new life to those how have been living as a victim rather than in the authority they have as Christians. God is so very good. Jesus is doing what He is to be doing. Healing the sick, casting out demons, cleansing the lepers and raising the dead. Freely He has been given and freely is is giving to others. He tells His disciples this is the way life is to be, because of the authority they have as children of the Most High God. But in this instance, Matthew 9:36 Jesus is moved with compassion.
Being moved with compassion means something within Him has redirected His focus. Within He is compelled to keep before Him the reason He is there. He is there to be the sacrificial lamb, to remove our sin, so each one who confesses Jesus as Lord has the same authority He has here on earth. Jesus must remember, in this form, He is only a man. He can't be everywhere. He is limited but when He lays down His life, the Spirit of God will come and be with each human being, right where they are and give them the authority to be the overcomer in their life by way of the the power released through the Spirit.
Pharaoh's daughter is moved with compassion for the baby when she sees him. She recognizes his ethnicity and knows there is a difference between herself and him, but that doesn't matter. She is moved with compassion to take this baby in and call him her own. She is compelled beyond her own conviction and separation of status. She may not be able to overturn what her father is doing, but she can save this one. She will save this one because she is moved by something she can't control. She is moved with compassion.
There are times we can wonder why someone who is not a Christian does a "good deed". They act beyond even what they believe or stand for. They do not realize they are being used by God. God is not controlling them, but He has spoken to them and for a split moment they are in complete agreement with what God is wanting them to do; even thought they may never know God is guiding them. Today is Pharaoh's daughter's day to be used by God to set into motion something God would want done in 40+ years later.
Father, I pray for my faith to rise up. There are times I know people around me do not honor You nor do they call You their Lord. I question whether You could really use them for Your kingdom advancement. I am in error. You can use anyone to put into motion Your plans for my life. You can guide and direct their path to be in the right place and do the right thing to advance Your kingdom, to bring freedom to Your people. I ask to be forgiven for my judgements on people. It really isn't a judgement against them; it is a judgement against You. My sin is against You. I ask for You to forgive me. You are God and there is no other who loves me, loves Your people, and reaches across economic status, ethnicity and educational levels to set in motion Your plans to bring freedom to Your people. You desire for Your people to fulfill the purpose You have placed inside of each one. I ask to believe You. You will work through whom You see will respond to Your counsel and be moved to accomplish Your will in Jesus' name amen.
