Warriors Arise: May 29, 2021
Luke 7:12-16 (NKJV) And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” 14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” 15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”
Do you remember reading this before? Many people think Lazarus was the only person Jesus raised from the dead (John 11:28-44). But before Lazarus there was this young man. Later there was Jairus' daughter (Luke 8:49-55). Did you also know Luke was a physician? This miracle would astound him.
I have no problem if someone wants to pray for their child who has died prematurely to be raised from the dead through the resurrecting power of Jesus Christ. Since God can raise someone who is no longer living and breathing it gives me hope when I have to pray for people who have died spiritually. They have rejected the things of God. They have abandoned the calling upon their lives. They have left behind the people who love them most to live their lives at the whims of the world and their own fleshly desires.
But this young man's mother was weeping. She had lost all hope of the dreams she had dreamed for her son. Jesus saw her and was moved with compassion. Jairus, loving his daughter, knowing his last hope was Jesus; a servant comes to tell Jairus his daughter has died. Jesus turns to him and tell him have faith and believe.
As graduation continues for 2021 seniors there are parents who do not know if their son or daughter will choose to align themselves with the plans God has upon their life. There are moms and dads who see their son or daughter make decisions that will lead to death of the dreams God placed inside of them. Some parents saw their seniors last year have dreams ripped from them as the pandemic stole their year end celebrations and dreams for their next step. The young man or young lady need Jesus to reach their coffin, their life and touch them with restored destiny and purpose. They need the redeeming power of God to give back what was stolen. It wasn't so much what they missed in the final 6 weeks of their senior year, the hope of a bright future. What's next? Businesses were closing so they couldn't get a job. Colleges were going virtual, rather than the world before them, they were seeing the walls close in, like a coffin. If this happened to you or a friend, pray for Jesus to reaching the coffin and restore life, their dreams and opportunities. Pray they burst out of the four walls that became a coffin and live out their destiny.
Those struggled in school this past year not knowing if they would be in class, have another ballgame, or when the doors would close they are like Jairus' daughter who was clinging to life, to the hope of a future and not knowing what to really hope for. Do you just hope you get through? There is almost a sense of celebrating that we got to celebrate 2021 seniors finishing their final year of school. But what about those who didn't thrive in their final year of school because of the pandemic. If this is you or you have a friend who has been going through this, hoping each week we would play the next game, have the next school event, wondering if senior night will happen, it created a great deal of stress. But it also was weary for the senior, as the young girl, Jairus' daughter. Jesus restored her life. Pray for the children who need life, purpose, and strength to return.
Father, I ask for You to come and touch the young men and ladies who need to break out of the coffin they have been placed in. I pray You would redeem the time and restore to them what has been stolen. I ask for life and life abundantly to come to each one. I pray in the name of Jesus for each one to know You, link up with the plans You have for their life and restore the relationship with their parents. I ask for You to come and visit the children who need security, purpose and strength in their life. I pray You would be their place of comfort, restoration, and peace. I ask for You to position the children, young men and young ladies to their destiny. I pray for the parents to trust You with the call You have on their child's life. I rebuke fear in Jesus name and call for the love of the Father to resurrect the dreams You have placed within each one. I pray for parents to turn to You and believe You will work all things for their good. You are the life-giver, hope restorer and destiny establisher. We will trust in You in Jesus' name amen.
