Warriors Arise: June 17, 2021
Exodus 17:8-13 (NKJV) Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
There is so much in this passage. Have you asked God why a plan didn't work? You were so sure God told you to go and do... but when it was over you felt totally defeated. It is incredibly important to know more than, "God told me to do...". We need to be asking:
What is my part?
Who is to go with me?
What are their roles?
When do You want this to happen?
What should we be doing in the meantime?
When we hear God speak to us, He needs us to ask questions so He knows we are listening, have heard what He said, and for the successful outcome. I have no doubt God speaks to each one of us. For the completion of God's plan we need to ask questions. Each person must know their place to serve.
Moses was God's chosen leader; however, he was not God's chosen battle master. Does that make him less of a leader? No. However, he did take charge. He gave the plans to Joshua, And Moses said to Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek."
He told them what he would be doing and he would not be down on the battlefield, "Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.”
Moses was still the leader and Joshua honored him even though he was not the battle commander. Joshua would have his fighting men while Moses had his men, Aaron and Hur. "So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill."
Each one had their place of service, their position in the battle.
What would have happened if Moses had said, "I'm the leader. I will lead us on the battlefield?" I'm not thinking they would have won the battle.
What if Joshua had said, "Moses, I will not go to battle if you re not right beside me." I'm not thinking they would have won the battle.
What if Hur had said, "I am a better warrior. Why do I have to sit on the sidelines while the others get to go into battle?" I'm not thinking they would have won the battle.
What if Aaron had told Moses, "I have this covered. I am God's priest. You go to battle and I will stand atop the hill." I'm not thinking they would have won the battle.
Today is your day to know what your place is in the plans God has given your family and your church to advance His kingdom here on earth.
Father, I come before You with my ears open to hear Your voice. I desire to know the plans You have for my family and the role You want me to play. Remind me to ask the right questions, clarifying questions. I do not want to take someone else's role and I don't want to relinquish my role to someone else. I want to know Your plan because Your plan will bring us through the battle, expand Your kingdom and secure Your good, perfect and acceptable will. You give each of us a place, a position, a responsibility. I pray we would seek You with open hearts and ears. I pray we would be ready to serve as You direct. Thank You for giving the game plan, clarifying our roles and strengthen us for removing the enemy who is trying to keep us from passing. You give me the plan to defeat the enemy who is keeping me from my promise. Thank you for giving specific directions with what I need to do. I will stay true to what You have said to do. I will fight the enemy in the position You have called me. You will give me the strength to take down the enemy who prevents me from my destiny in
