Warriors Arise: June 28, 2021
Matthew 4:8-10 (NKJV) Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Really? The audacity! Why would Jesus worship the Tempter? This would all be Jesus' in a short while and He would get it legitimately. I wonder how many times we find ourselves in situations where we give up when in a short while the fulfillment of the promise begins and will be completed. What is the "worship me" the Tempter is really asking?
Could the Tempter be asking for Jesus to buy into the world system of:
lack
insecurity
devalued
insignificant
work til you drop
survival of the fittest domination mentality?
Which is contrary to God's desire for our world.
God offers each one of us plenty, abundance, and overflow to the Tempter's lack.
God offers us security in His strength of body, soul and spirit to the Tempter's gift of insecurity.
God says we are the apple of His eye and He will always be with us and watch over us to the devaluing the Tempter's opinion of us.
God made each one of us a masterpiece. He put gifts and talents inside each one of us to accomplish impacting purpose. Yet, the Tempter says we are insignificant.
God says work 6 days and take a Sabbath rest. While the Tempter says we must work, work, work just to make ends meet.
God says His favor is upon us and we will be place in a position to influence which serves the greater good of all people. Yet, the Tempter says think only of yourself and attain your dreams no matter who you hurt or what it costs you.
There was no reason to worship the Tempter. His offer is a marge and Jesus knew it. The Tempter would never give it up just for the sake of a moment of someone worshipping him. It was all about to be stripped away. There was no reason to worship the Tempter because he had nothing Jesus to admire. What he was offering Jesus, His Father had created. The chains, not strings, that are always attached to the Tempter's request of your worship will be the chains of bondage from which you will continue to live. Jesus knew the Tempter all too well. He would not worship him that day or any other day.
Jesus did not struggle in:
His identity, He knew who He was.
His purpose on earth. He knew what He was to do.
God's timing. He knew God is faithful to bring to completion what He has begun.
How about you? Is your identity in Christ? Do you know your God-given purpose? Are You steadfast in preparing to be ready for when God says, "Now..." Today is your day to remove the chains you took from the Tempter. Today is your day to know who you are, what your purpose is, and trust God's timing.
Father, You do not waver in Your amazing love for us. I ask for You to reveal to me if there is any part of myeline I have surrendered to the Tempter? Search me today. I want my worship to be only of You. I want to completely surrender to You. I want my mind to be on You. I ask for my identity to be in Christ. I receive Your strength to fulfill the purpose You have put in my life. I trust You to open doors I am to walk through to advance Your kingdom. I am not in lack. You pour out Your abundance upon my life. My bills are paid for. My health is solid. My mind is alert. I am not insecure for You have made me exactly who I need to be to release Your kingdom to those round me. I am valued because You say I am the apply of Your eye. You are always with me. You go before me to make a way for me. I know when to work diligently and when to rest in You. You will honor my day of rest. It is a sacrifice I give to You. I will honor others and help them achieve their goals. Their success will not take away from mine. Their success will be enhanced by mine. You are will me and I will honor You in Jesus' name amen.
