Today is Your Day, part 56

Warriors Arise: July 4, 2021

Matthew 4:8-11 (NKJV) Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

You get to choose who you worship and you get to choose what country you live. Not everyone gets these choices but here in America, we do. Today, we honor our forefathers for their desire to not allow themselves to be treated as less-than just because they were not living in England. We honor our forefathers because they would not allow for taxation without representation. We honor our forefathers because they did not allow themselves to become slaves to Great Britain; therefore, they could begin to see how slavery was wrong. Their stand led to the fall of slavery not only in America but in Great Britain as well. Yes, it took decades and that is a travesty; however, we also honor those who kept the vision of our forefathers alive until it became a reality, all men and women treated equal. Now, I know not everyone embraces treating people with equality. Somehow equality has become about everyone have the same things, material things, not about having the same opportunity and treating people the same. However, I am not really concerned about equality as I am with honor. If we are people of honor then we will be people who honor.

Honor can't be given if it is not part of our character. Honor has to do with value. When we do not value others then there is no chance of honoring others. It starts with valuing life then extends to seeing their potential followed by encouraging them to achieve their goals.

Jesus valued our life. He gave up His deity to come to earth. Could you image being worshipped 24/7, having all authority and power then putting it aside to become human? Not only that, but knowing what the prophets had said He would experience from the shame, humiliation, rejection, loss, despised, betrayed, torture, beaten beyond recognition, nailed to the cross, and knowing God would have to turn His back from the sin that Jesus would take on. Jesus had never been separated from His Father. Jesus knew the cost and He still chose to value our life over His comfort. Jesus honored each one of us as He honored His Father.

I bet He couldn't wait for Satan to show up, "Let's get his started because I can't wait to finish it." There was no going back without making a way for each one of us to know God and have the opportunity to walk in complete freedom here on earth. We could live free from the torment of Satan. Jesus was showing us how. He was no longer deity. He defeated Satan as a man, completely human. You and I have that same opportunity.

When you and I receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior then we have the opportunity to walk in, establish and demonstrate the power of God. In Colossians 1:27, Christ is you and I is the hope of the world and the glory of God on display. We are to activate the power of God within us because of our Savior who valued our lives, died for us and rose again victorious over hell and death.

Listen, there are definitely times here on earth where it seems like hell; however, it is nothing compared to what hell will really be like. If we really believed in hell like we believe their is a heaven, we would not be shy, reserved, or afraid of rejection in sharing our faith. We would value their lives today but more importantly, we would value their future, their afterlife. It isn't going to be pretty and won't be pleasant. Hell was not made for humans. Hell was made for the angels who rebelled against God. It is horrific to think that a person will go to hell after death in this life. I truly get bothered with I hear people say, "Well, then you can just go to hell!" They have no idea what they are saying, the afterlife they are condemning that person to. But Jesus came to give us the freedom of choice. We have a choice to live in heaven, in paradise after our life here on earth is done. Jesus made a way for us to no longer be slaves to Satan and the demons who followed him. We are to be free from their torment as we take authority in Christ. Jesus showed us how. Jesus made a way that we could have the same authority He had while here on earth. Now, it is our responsibility to live in the freedom Jesus died to give us.

Satan will tempt us to fall and worship anything but God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. But we must keep in perspective that God will be second to none and no thing. There are to be no idols before Him. We worship the Trinity; Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and them alone. When we do, we will honor all people giving them value, believing in their purpose and encouraging them to achieve all God has put inside of them to do.

I would like to say honor is a two-way street, and it is. The problem is that most people will take the honor you give them but they do not return it. This doesn't have anything to do with you or I. It has to do with their lack, they are not a person of honor so they can't give what they do not walk in. We worship God and walk in the authority He gives Christians over Satan, the demons and all the temptations they throw at us.

  • Worshipping God give us strength to rise up.

  • Worshipping Jesus give us power to overcome.

  • Worshipping the Holy Spirit gives us wisdom, understanding and clarity to know what to do.

Only when we worship God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will we truly know the freedom to take authority over the enemy. Then we will let freedom ring. Our worship of God is like our victory song. In 2 Chronicles 20, the worshippers marches ahead of the army into battle. When they arrived at the battle lines those who had threatened them and called them into battle, God had already taken care of their enemy! Your worship of God is a power weapon over your enemy. Worship is God's calling card. When Satan hears us worship from the very depth of our being, he isn't sticking around because he knows Who is about to show up.

Father, I lift Your name on high! You are my God and there is no other. I praise You for making a way that I could be a part of Your family. Thank you for Your amazing love. Thank You for providing a way for me to overcome Satan, death and hell. I worship Jesus for making the sacrifice to leave His place in heaven to come and pay the price for my sin. I give honor and glory to the One who suffered for me, who taught me how to love, honor and take dominion back from my enemy. I worship Holy Spirit who leads me with wisdom, understanding and a clear mind. I thank You for strength in Who I am, Whose I am and my purpose here on earth. I will worship You all of the days of my life in Jesus' name amen.
