Today is Your Day, part 61

Warriors Arise: July 9, 2021

Matthew 4:11 (NKJV) Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

So I have to smile at this. Matthew doesn't tell us about the exchange between Jesus and the angels when they arrived.

Jesus says lightheartedly, "Well, it's about time you showed up."

Jesus says giving hugs, "I knew you were here. So good to see you again."

Jesus with amazement, "Can you believe the change in Lucifer? He didn't even know you were here. He doesn't even know who I am."

Angels with confidence, "We would have caught you if you had jumped."

Angels talking over one another, "I was this close to knocking him up side the head!"

Angels baffled, "How could you let him talk to you like that? Why didn't you tell him who you were?"

I imagine any number of things being said as soon as the devil left Jesus. Even if he did, look over his shoulder, I don't think he could have seen the angels. He was blinded to the truth. He had so much hatred in him, he could not see who was right before his eyes. It is the same way with those who reject what God is offering today.

2 Corinthians 4:1-6 (NKJV) Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. 2 But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

The gospel is the glory of Christ, the light shining in the darkness that surrounds those who reject the truth. The only way they will see the truth is if they acknowledge the light of Christ. Jesus comes to the door of so many. They open the door but look right past Him. They don't even see who is standing right before them, just like Satan.

Revelation 3:18-20 (NKJV) ...and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

We have to see who is standing right in front of us. The god of this age is blind to the mysteries of God; therefore, those who follow him are blind. There is one way you and I see. There is one way the lost will see. They must hear the knock at the door and acknowledge Jesus standing right in front of them.

John 14:6 (NKJV ) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Those of us who have heard Jesus knock at the door and opened to receive Him, in walk in the mystery that baffles those who have turned a deaf ear to the knock of Christ at their door or blinded eyes so that they can't see Jesus standing right in front of them. Jesus is not only the way to eternal life in heaven, but He is the way to living life abundantly.

John 10:10b (NKJV) I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Does this mean you will have no more sorrow, setbacks, tribulations, or temptations? Nope, not at all. But it does mean when sorrow comes, it is followed by the joy of the Lord. After every night there is a morning and joy comes in the morning.

Will there be setbacks? Absolutely, but God makes those setback a setup for His name to be glorified, as You are launched into greater things than these.

Are the tribulations going to be devastating? For sure! However, in John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Peace is the power to get through the devastation tribulation. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Will the temptations be alluring? Absolutely but temptation does not come from God. 1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. When you and I turn to God we will see the way of escape from the temptation before us! When we see the way out, run!

Father, what a reunion that must have been when the devil left and the angels came to Jesus. I can only imagine what they talked about; however, I am looking forward to seeing the replay when I get to heaven. Jesus overcame every temptation the tempter coaxed and his arrogance. I find it more fascinating that Jesus didn't choke the tempter for his rebellion against You and his pride must have been an awful putrid thing to stomach, while in his presence. I am amazed at how calm Jesus was through this confrontation. I ask for You to come and minister to my mind. I want to be secure in Your Word to see the way out, the verse I need to stop the takeover the the temptation the devil places in front of me. I want to be secure in who I am as Your child, knowing You will give me strength to have self control and stay the course, speaking only what You tell me to say. I want to have my words point to bringing You glory and magnifying Your name here on earth. You are worthy of all praise. I will lift You name on high and find my strength in You. I pray for the ears of all people to hear Jesus knocking at the door to their heart and ming. I pray they will open the door and see with their own eyes, having understanding of what Jesus has done to give them an opportunity to be in relationship with You. I ask for Your kingdom to expand all over the earth. I pray for a turning of hearts and minds to You. I pray for minds to be set on knowing the truth. I pray for the hearts of the people be to steadfast in honoring You with all they do and all they are. I want to honor You with all that I do and all that I am. I want to magnify the name of the Lord my God in Jesus' name amen.
