Warriors Arise: August 13, 2023
Matthew 4:5-7 (NKJV) Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”
The devil is too late. Jesus had no issues with His identity. He knew who He was. He knew what He was there to do. He wasn't searching for some way to serve God. He was positioned to take His place as the King of kings. He would not be deterred by the temptation to show His power. If the devil couldn't identify Him, He wasn't going to help him out. He had nothing to prove to the devil. He didn't need any validation. Nor did He need to encourage the devil to continue pestering Him. So He said what He needed to say and stuck it to him, upper cut with "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the Lord your God.'"
Now, who is throwing down the Scripture like a warrior? Jesus! That's who!
I am Your child. I have made You my God. Jesus is my Savior and I honor Him as Lord. I seek counsel from the Holy Spirit and delight in His gifts and fruit. I will live in the righteousness of Christ and seek You. I will answer each temptation according to Your Word. You will be my rear guard. You will lead me into triumph. You are my King and my God. I will worship You alone. I will not mince words with the enemy. I will use Scripture because as I read my Bible, You are impressing it upon my mind, heart and body.
Father, I desire to be that efficient with Your Word. I want to draw upon Your Word in an instant. I desire for the right Scripture to come forth just as fast as the enemy throws out the temptations. I don't want the enemy to have any room to twist Scripture. I want to accurately use Your Word and defeat the devil. He plays as if it is a game, but I am not out to lose. I will continue to learn Your Word and apply it accurately to my daily life and every time the enemy or the world has twisted Your Word. You will keep my understanding accurate. You will give me wisdom and speed to cut down the temptations of the devil in Jesus name amen.
