Warriors Arise: March 22, 2021
Daniel 6:12-14 (NKJV) And they went before the king, and spoke concerning the king's decree: “Have you not signed a decree that every man who petitions any god or man within thirty days, except you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered and said, “The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which does not alter.” 13 So they answered and said before the king, “That Daniel, who is one of the captives from Judah, does not show due regard for you, O king, or for the decree that you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.” 14 And the king, when he heard these words, was greatly displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him; and he labored till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
Darius set out to find a way to prevent himself from having to send Daniel to the lion's den. It does not say he asked the governors or satraps to help him find a way out of this mess. Scripture says, He "set his heart on Daniel to deliver him". The king was going to find the document he needed to get himself out of this disaster. Allowing his pride to be stroked by these men was going to cost him the very man, maybe the only man, he could truly trust, in his kingdom.
Darius knew Daniel. He had selected Daniel. He knew he could trust Daniel. He had placed Daniel over all the other government officials. This is catastrophic. There just had to be a way out of this decree. Maybe with Daniel's high rank, he would have some type of diplomatic way around to the law. Daniel knew and the men who set him up knew that there was no way around what Darius was going to have to do. None-the-less, Darius would search until his time was up. He searched for a way out of what he would have to do; but in the end, there was nothing he could do.
Many times we have faced an issue we can't undo. With all of our might, we tried to get better. With all of our mind, we tried to get smarter. With all of our heart, we tried to stir up our passion, hoping it would be enough to resolve the turmoil we were experiencing. There are the occasions when the matter is no longer in our hands to prevent, correct, or make right. However, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try. It means, when we have tried everything "we" can do, we come face to face with the need for someone bigger than us.
Father, I ask for You to come and speak to me. There is a situation in my life I have been working through. I have been trying to correct. I have been trying to make right. I have Your forgiveness. I have sought to make things right but there is something still out of line. It has not been corrected or restored. I ask for You to come and reveal to me if there is anything I need to do. If so, then direct my path. My heart is to make things right. You are my God. I will serve You. Lead me in Your ways and speak to me Your truths in Jesus' name amen.
