What Can You Do?

Warriors Arise: January 27, 2021

Daniel 5:7-9 (NKJV) The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.” 8 Now all the king's wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation. 9 Then King Belshazzar was greatly troubled, his countenance was changed, and his lords were astonished.

No one. Not one. There wasn't a person among them who had any idea what the writing said nor its interpretation. Think about when something has happened and you can't figure out the answer. You have gone to ask. If one person doesn't have the answer then you go to another. If they don't know then there must be someone who does. No one had and answer. They couldn't even begin to read what God had written let alone interpret what was written. Belshazzar had asked all of his wise men. His lords were dining with him. They saw what happened but none of them had an answer. Belshazzar had a right to be greatly troubled. He was king after all and if he didn't know, someone around him should.

When we don't know what is happening or why it is happening we tend to look for someone who should now or at least someone we expect to know. I can be having a tech problem. If it is with my computer I turn to Scott. If it is with my phone any of my teenagers can help. But if they can't, it doesn't sit well with me because then I have nowhere else to go. There isn't anyone else to ask and I am greatly troubled. I would like the problem resolved and to move on with my day. I really do not want to waste any more of my day when I think someone else should be able to solve my problem.

Do you know what the problem really is? It is my problem. It isn't anyone else's. It is my problem. If someone else can't fix my problem it isn't their fault. Just like Belshazzar, when the problem with my computer or phone happens my countenance changes. Then if I call in my tech people, Scott or my teens and the can't fix it, my countenance changes again.

Scripture goes on to say "and his lords were astonished." My Bible gives another word for astonished. It says I can replace it with perplexed. Perplexed means completely baffled, very puzzled. Tech problems can cause everyone in the house to be completely baffled and very puzzled. This definition fits well. Belshazzar saw what had happened, a man's fingers writing on the wall. He called for his wise men who would be able to tell him what it says and what it means but they can't because they are not of God.

What can you do when you are faced with something you can't solve? Can't fix? Can't answer? For my tech problems I turn to my husband and my teens. Are they computer technicians? Are they phone technicians? No, they are not. They have learned to fix minor problems but they are not technicians. There are times when I have to go to a computer store or a phone store and have the people who are trained as technicians solve my problem. What can I do? I can calm down, invest my time to listen to their instructions so I know how to prevent the problem or resolve the problem myself the next time.

There are events happening in our country right now. Do they cause you to be perplexed; completely baffled, very puzzled? Has your countenance changed? Are you troubled greatly? I truly believe God knows what is happening. I also believe He is causing His people to be identified which also causes those who are not His to be identified. What can we do? We can pray.

Father, You hear our prayers. You listen to our cry. You have not forgotten us but You also will not allow those who have aligned themselves with the enemy to hide under sheep's clothing. You are calling us to lay down our apathy and take a stand for righteousness. You are calling us to love the broken but deliver the truth to hardhearted. You are positioning us to know who walks in the spirit of truth and who has aligned themselves with the father of lies. You are calling us to look at the heart of a man and not his appearance. We are to see what You see. I pray for Your truth to be revealed. I pray for Christians to desire You. When we seek after You we will receive the fullness of Your truth. We will know Your amazing love that casts out fear. We will walk in the truth of Your Word. We will rid ourselves of the lies we have believed and walk in the truth You reveal. I pray for You to remove leaders who will not follow Your word. I pray for You to shut the mouths of the liars. I do not believe the pandemic was Your judgement. It was the threats and manipulation of the enemy. I believe what is coming is Your judgement. I pray for protection for those who have stood with You, releasing Your kingdom here on earth, and speaking the truth of Your word. I pray for You to intervene and make a way out of this judgment for those who have honored You. I ask for You to continue to release Your wisdom and love to Your people. I ask for protection, health and wholeness for those who have surrendered their life to You and that they live the life You destined for them. I ask for You to guide us in Your ways, what You would have us do, and how we can expand Your kingdom here on earth in Jesus' name amen.
