What Can You Say After That?

Warriors Arise: May 9, 2021

Daniel 6:25-28 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, And steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. 27 He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders In heaven and on earth, Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. 28 So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

I do find this a little humorous, "So this Daniel".

The Daniel, Darius has been talking about.

The Daniel, Darius declared, "Your God, whom you serve continually; He will deliver you."

The Daniel, Darius cast into the lions' den.

The Daniel, Darius stayed up all night, waiting for the dawn to come.

The Daniel, Darius hastened to the lions' den to see if he was alive.

The Daniel, Darius called to when the stone was taken away, "Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?"

The Daniel, Darius heard the verdict of God.

The Daniel, God declared innocent, having done nothing wrong before the king.

The Daniel, God sent the angels to shut the mouths of the lions for the duration of the night.

The Daniel, Darius brought up out of the lions' den. So this Daniel...

Just wanted to make sure you and I were talking about the same Daniel. The Daniel who prospered in the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus. I love that history did not leave out what happened after this extreme space in time where Daniel took a deliberate stand for God. Even though his life was at stake, he would not pray to anyone other than the living God. No where are we told he knew God would save him. That is what makes it so real.

When you and I are faced with tough decisions:

Will I stand for righteousness?

Will I make an idol out of my job, friends, family, possessions, doing nothing, living life my way etc.?

Will I surrender my honor of the living God to please other people?

Will I surrender my relationship with God to try to give myself a better position?

Will I surrender my character, loyalty, faithfulness because of my fear of what man can do to me?

Are you familiar with the song with the following lines: "This Little Light of Mine, I'm going to let it shine"? I remember singing these lines very young in Sunday school class. I remember thinking how easy it was to share Jesus with people. I never thought someone would hate Jesus or hate me because I loved Jesus. I never thought they would think that I was weak, because I turned to the living God for strength. I never thought they would think I was stupid because I believed in the all-knowing God. I never thought they would think I was less than, because I listened to my God speak words of value over me. I never thought my innocence would be thought of as something they would dispose me for. I never thought my devotion to God would be something they would be jealous of. I never thought my little light would reveal such darkness.

When you come to the understanding of God's amazing love for you, it doesn't really matter what other's think. Receive from God's love and let it empower you to shine bright and bring truth to a world so willing to be led astray by lies and deception. The darker you see the world, the brighter you need to shine. "Christ in you is the hope and glory" (Col. 1:27). Daniel let his light shine before man and the world, under Darius's dominion people were told of the power and love the the living God to deliver His people.

Father, I pray you would give me strength to stand for righteousness. I ask for Your love to pour over me. I ask for You to give me courage to stand when the enemy comes to accuse. I ask for You to give me boldness to walk through the darkness. I ask for Your light to shine in me. I want others to know You are the living God. I want each one to live in the fullness of Your wisdom, love, mercy and grace in Jesus' name amen.
