Warriors Arise: February 15, 2023
1 Chronicles 15:27 (NKJV) David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master with the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.
Why would there be a note as to what David wore? In thinking back to all the times kings are recorded coming back home, the ark being carried in the wilderness or the ark being carried out to war, I do not find a time when it mentions what they wore. However, what I do remember is what Jesus wore when He was led to the cross for my sins. It must have been made of fine linen because the guards did not split His clothes, they gambled to see who would get the entire piece of linen cloth. It was expensive as one piece but cut up, it wouldn't be worth much nor would anyone be able to wear a fourth of the linen cloth tunic Jesus wore.
John 19:23-24 (NKJV) Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. 24 They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: “They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.” Therefore the soldiers did these things.
When we read in the Bible of God recognizing David as a man after His own heart, I wonder if God spoke to David as clearly as He spoke to His prophets. David seems to be ahead of his time. As he is leading the procession for the ark returning, he's clothed in fine linen and so are all the Levites.
Jesus would come from the line of David. Jesus would also be our priest. Here was a connection in what they are wearing as the king and the priest united to escort and carry the presence of God.
There is a man who also recognized Jesus as King, Priest and God. He wrapped Jesus in fine linen.
Mark 15:43-46 (NKJV) Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time. 45 So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. 46 Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen.
Jesus was dead and Joseph of Arimathea, recognized Jesus as King, Priest and God. He honored Him with the robe of righteousness. Joseph and David seem to be in alignment with God. They seem to have understanding they could have only received from the Father. Then in Revelation we have a robe of fine linen, clean and bright. We also receive the meaning of the fine linen.
Revelation 19:5-8 (NKJV) Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” 6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! 7 Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
When we watch a romanic movie we may see a woman outside with a chill in the air. The man takes notice, takes off his coat and wraps her in it. The ultimate gift Jesus gives, a robe made of fine line, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Do you know what Jesus was wearing? Verse 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood. I do not know if this is the blood He shed for my sins, but He purifies each one of us and calls us His own. He wears the blood stained robe while He gives us the clean, bright robe made of fine linen as the righteous acts of the saints. What did I do to deserve His amazing love?
Nothing, absolutely nothing. I didn't do anything. I received. I received His love. I received His sacrifice. I received His redemption. I received His restoration. I received from Him. Therefore, I come before Him ready to do what it is He asks me to do. God is so very good. I am stounded by His love. I am in awe of Him. He calls me righteous when I am only righteous because of Him. He is for me, just like He is for you.
Revelation 19:14 (NKJV) And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses.
The armies of heaven are clothes in fine line, white and clean. What army would wear white? It would get dirty and blood stained. In this moment, as I study this, I see Jesus is in the robe dipped in blood, because it only took one and He is the One who died for my sins and makes me clean as snow. He is my God, my King, my Priest, my everything. No one saved me from my misery, but my Jesus. He is the Christ. He is the Messiah. He is Emmanuel. He is the Redeemer. He is the Restorer of my soul. I am undone. I am overwhelmed by His amazing love.
Father, You are for me in ways I cannot even comprehend. Lord Jesus, You have done everything that needs to be done for me. You laid down Your life and clothed me in clean white line. You have made me clean. You took upon Yourself my sins and wear the robe dipped in blood with honor. It is Your righteousness that makes me righteous. My heart overflows with gratitude and thanksgiving. You are worthy of my praise and I will worship You in Jesus' name amen.
