Crossover Part 1
Last week while we were in our God-time with the kids I clearly heard the Lord tell me prepare to crossover. He reminded me of Joshua 3 where the Children of Israel are camped at the end of their 40 year sentence to the desert. I have been praying into this and seeking God for how it applies to me and each one of us. We are about to crossover into another year; however, the date on the calendar isn't the only thing we are to crossover. When we crossover we are to leave behind the things of the past. What did the children of Israel have to leave behind?
It wasn't God's idea for the Children of Israel to wander through the desert for 40 years. That was their idea. They continually accused God of bringing them out into the desert to kill them. Not that their complaining didn't tempt God but Moses would not let God act on it. At the first sign of danger, they were just beginning their journey. Pharaoh was pursing them and they were trapped by the sea. How did the Children of Israel respond at the first sign of trouble?
Exodus 14:10-12 (NKJV) And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. 11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? 12 Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”
From the very beginning they accused God and the servant He sent, Moses, of trying to kill them. You have to read this again.
For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness."
What kind of sense it this? Because there were no graves you have taken us away to die in the wilderness. Why have you so dealt with us? Didn't we tell you to leave us alone, we would rather be slaves than to be free! How many times did they profess over themselves in this one situation that they would die in the wilderness?
God doesn't bring us out of a place to physically kill us. There may be something in us that needed to die, like fear, that so trust can be established. What about getting rid of the slave mentality and embracing trusting in God to establish you in the gifts and callings He has put inside of you? Another thing that may need to die is our willingness to be swayed by what others say verses learning truth, thinking as God thinks, and knowing He gives us wisdom. He also wants to leave behind the chains of control, giving us the opportunity to choose to love Him in return for the freedom He has given us. It would be nice if we thanked Him for getting us out of the bondage we have been in and embrace what He has in mind for our freedom.
The few weeks of travel the Children have done from Egypt to the edge of the Promised Land seems to be little difference in the people's view of God. Chapter 14 in Exodus and in Numbers reveals their heart really hasn't changed. They still think the worst of God. In Numbers chapter 14 the twelve spies have returned from their 40 day exploration of the Promised Land and are reporting to the people. Lately, we, in America, have all had enough reporting by opinion based, people telling us what to think rather than the truth. They heard the same thing from ten of the spies. Yet, two of the spies saw the same thing as the ten but chose to believe God would do what He said He would do. They land was flowing with milk and honey. It was everything God said it would be but the people didn't see themselves as God saw them. They didn't see God for who He was and is today. They chose to listen to the interpretation of the ten spies who told them they could not obtain what God had promised. They totally missed it!
God didn't expect them to do this in their own strength without His involvement. He was going to show them He would be their front and rear guard. He was going to make warriors out of them. They would need to be able to keep what He was about to give them. But the people listened to the ten spies who did not speak on God's behalf but from their own point of fear and slave mentality. They rejected the report of Joshua and Caleb, that God would be with them and would surely give them what He promised. It was too late the people were swayed by false reports. Once again they professed their doom because they thought so little of God.
Numbers 14:1-4 (NKJV) So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. 2 And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! 3 Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?” 4 So they said to one another, “Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.”
This is exasperating to read! What is wrong with these people? How many times had they spoken over themselves, "If only we had died in the wilderness!" That is crazy talk. They were at the place where they were to crossover, to go into the Promised Land. They can see it; they have tasted its fruit. Fruit that was so big and heavy two men had to carry a cluster of grapes on a pole! That is beyond what my mind can comprehend. Yet, the Children of Israel couldn't believe what God had said. They couldn't believe for the plenty God had for them. They couldn't believe they would have a land of their own because of God's love. God brought them out of the muck and the mire of Egypt, but that isn't where they were to remain. God brought them through the desert but that isn't where they were to die. God showed them His word was true when the twelve spies testified of the land flowing with milk and honey and the produce of the land good but they would not crossover into the Promised Land. They would only profess that they should have died in the desert.
We are coming to a time of crossover. Will you be ready?
Are you prepared to leave behind the fear the coronavirus and media have provoked?
Are you prepared to hear the Word of the Lord and follow Him?
Are you prepared to see with Your own eyes and hear with your own ears what God is saying?
Are you prepared to see the giants in your Promised Land and be trained as a warrior to remove them from your promise, your territory, your domain?
Are you prepared to trust the leadership God has placed in power? The children of Israel wanted to pick a new leader and return to Egypt. Do you really want to go back to a life of bondage? Choosing a new leader will only take you back to a life of bondage.
God has not abandoned us. He will not lead us astray. He will fulfill His promise. Will you align your words with what God says about you, what He has promised you, and what He says will be yours?
Father, You lead us into victory. You desire for us to be set free from from a slavery mentality, that would keep us in bondage to our old life, to disappointments, and hardships. Because of Jesus we can be free to live the life You planned for each one of us. I will no longer listen to the voice of those spewing lies and sharing their opinions rather than the truth of what You say. I will listen to Your voice and follow what You say. I will no longer embrace fear. I will embrace Your plan for my life. You will lead me and guide me to live the abundant life Jesus died to give me. I will not live in fear. I know You will provide for my needs. You will do much more than I can think or imagine. I praise the name of my God for He is righteous and good in all of His ways. I know my God has good things for me. I know my God will protect me and teach me how to fight the enemy who occupies my domain. I will not return to a life of slavery. I will not take my kids back to bondage. I will embrace what I cannot see. I have not seen the Promised Land the Lord has said was mine, but I know He never lets me down. I know He has plans I can't even comprehend. I know His love for me is amazing. I will trust the Lord my God. I will speak what God has spoken to me. I will speak of the promise and believe with all that I am in Jesus' name amen.
